Kopper
Hilmar Kopper (13 March 1935 – 11 November 2021) was a German banker and former chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bank (1989–1997). Life and career Kopper was born in Osłonino (Second Polish Republic, Poland), the second of four children of a Vistula delta Mennonites, Mennonite family. His family was expulsion of Germans from Poland, expelled after World War II. As the family could afford academic education only for one child, Kopper's elder brother, he became a trainee at Deutsche Bank in 1954, at a regional branch named Rheinisch-Westfälische Bank in Köln-Mülheim. He would spend his whole career at the bank. He was sent to the J. Henry Schroder Banking Corp. in New York City, and then worked in Deutsche Bank's department for foreign affairs (''Auslandsabteilung'' in Düsseldorf. Osłonino
Osłonino ( csb, Òsłónino; german: Oslanin) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Puck, within Puck County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It lies approximately south-east of Puck and north of the regional capital Gdańsk. It is located at the mouth of the Gizdepka river on the Bay of Puck on the coast of the Baltic Sea in the historic region of Pomerania. The village has a population of 350. Vistula Delta Mennonites
Vistula delta Mennonites were a historic Mennonite community, established in the mid-16th century in the Vistula river delta in Poland. It originated from the Netherlands and present-day northern Germany. The Mennonite community played an important role in the drainage and cultivation of the Vistula delta and the trade relations with the Netherlands. In the late 18th century a significant number of Mennonites emigrated further and formed the nucleus of the Mennonite settlements in Russia, while many remained in the region after the annexation of the region by Prussia in the Partitions of Poland. With the end of World War II and the flight and expulsion of Germans (including Germanized Dutch settlers) the Mennonite settlements in the Vistula delta ceased to exist. Un-word of the year (german: Unwort des Jahres) is an annual selection of one new or recently popularized term that violates human rights or infringes upon democratic principles, made by a panel of German linguists. The term may be one that discriminates against societal groups or may be euphemistic, disguising or misleading. The term is chosen from suggestions sent in by the public. The choice of the word does not depend on how many times it was suggested, but reflects the judgement of the panel. The core of the panel consists of four linguists and one journalist.
