Konkani Wikipedia
Konkani Wikipedia is the Konkani language edition of Wikipedia, run by Wikimedia Foundation. It was started in July 2015. Prior to this, it had been in incubation since 2006. Currently, there are content articles in the project. The total number of edits on this Wikipedia is . History Konkani Wikipedia went live in July 2015, after being in incubation since 2006. Earlier in September 2013, 4 volumes of ''Konkani vishwakosh'' (encyclopedia) were relicensed under Creative Commons Licenses. Information from these volumes of encyclopedias were used to write articles on Konkani Wikipedia. In the same year a Wikipedia-related workshop was organized at Goa University. In April 2014, two introductory sessions on editing Wikipedia were conducted at Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work in Goa. In July 2015 the Wikipedia went live after incubation for 9 years. Madhavi Sardesai
Madhavi Sardesai (7 July 1962 – 22 December 2014) was an Indian academic and the editor of the Konkani literary journal "''Jaag''". She was also a scholar, publisher and writer who worked mainly in the Konkani language in Goa. She headed the Goa University's Konkani Department. She died on 22 December 2014 after a battle with cancer. Early life and education Sardesai did her primary education through the Konkani medium, and graduated from Chowgule College, Margao in English and Philosophy. She had a Master of Arts degree (M.A). in linguistics, and presented work on 'Some Aspects of Konkani Grammar' for her MPhil degree. Her PhD was from Goa University's Department of English for her thesis on 'A Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Study of Lexical Influences on Konkani'. Career She has worked on the topic of the Portuguese influence on Konkani language and the "linguistic genius" of Shenoi Goembab. This article is about the culture of natives of the Indian state of Goa. Goans are commonly said to be born with music and football in their blood. This is because football and music are deeply entrenched in Goan culture. Religion According to the 1909 statistics in the ''Catholic Encyclopedia'', the total Catholic population was 293,628 out of a total population 365,291 (80.33%). Within Goa, there has been a steady decline of Christianity due to Goan emigration, and a steady rise of other religions, due to massive non-Goan immigration since the Annexation of Goa. Tulu Wikipedia
The Tulu Wikipedia is the Tulu language edition of Wikipedia, run by the Wikimedia Foundation. It currently has articles and it is the largest edition of Wikipedia by article count. It is the 23rd language of India to get a Wikipedia after eight years in incubation. History Katherine Maher, the executive director of Wikimedia Foundation announced the launch of the Tulu Wikipedia as a full site at the WIkiConference 2016. It was in incubation since 2008. As of August 2016, it had 200 registered editors with 10 of them being active, and over 1000 articles. It was the 23rd language from India to have a Wikipedia edition.
