Konak İskele (Tram İzmir)
Konak İskele is a light-rail station on the Konak Tram of the Tram İzmir system in İzmir, Turkey. It is located on within the Konak Kent Park, in front of the Konak Terminal (), from which the station gets its name. Transfer is available to the İzmir Metro at Konak (İzmir Metro), Konak station as well İzdeniz ferry service at Konak Ferry Terminal. There is also a transfer to ESHOT buses. To the east of the station is Konak Square and the İzmir Clock Tower as well as many governmental buildings along with the historical Kemeraltı marketplace. Tram İzmir, alternatively known as İzmir Tram (), is a tram network in İzmir, Turkey. Owned by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and operated by İzmir Metro A.Ş., the system consists of three lines: one in Karşıyaka, which opened on 11 April 2017, one in Konak, which opened on 24 March 2018 and one in Çiğli, which opened on 27 January 2024. Kemeraltı (more fully, Kemeraltı Çarşısı) is a historical market (bazaar) district of İzmir, Turkey. It remains one of the liveliest districts of İzmir. Location The district covers a vast area extending from the level of the Agora of Smyrna (the quarters of Namazgah, Mezarlıkbaşı and İkiçeşmelik), to the seashore along the Konak Square. İzmir Clock Tower
İzmir Clock Tower () is a historic clock tower located at the Konak Square in the Konak district of İzmir, Turkey. It is considered as the main landmark of the city. History Kâmil Pasha, the then-Governor of Aidin Vilayet, held a meeting with the prominent people of İzmir on 1 August 1900. It was decided a clock tower to be built in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Abdul Hamid II's accession to the throne. The clock tower was designed by the Levantine French architect Raymond Charles Péré. The groundbreaking ceremony of the construction was held on 1 September 1900. The tower was completed in August 1901 and officially inaugurated on 1 September 1901, the 25th anniversary of the sultan's accession to the throne. The top of the tower was destroyed in a magnitude 6.4 earthquake on 31 March 1928 and again in a magnitude 5.2 earthquake on 1 February 1974. Konak Square () is a busy square at the southern end of Atatürk Avenue in the Konak district of İzmir, Turkey. The square is named after the '' Vali Konağı'' (Governor's Mansion) of İzmir Province, which is located here ('' konak'' means ''mansion'' in Turkish.) Konak Ferry Terminal ( , or ''Konak Vapur İskelesi'') to differentiate it from the older Konak Pier, is a passenger ferry terminal in central Konak, İzmir on the Gulf of İzmir. It is located at the west end of the ''Kent Tarihi Park'', west of Konak Square and Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard. İzdeniz operates commuter ferry service to destinations in Karşıyaka, Bayraklı, Balçova as well as within Konak.
