Komyshany ( uk, Комишани; russian: Камышаны) is a rural settlement in Kherson Raion, Kherson Oblast, southern Ukraine. It is essentially a west suburb of the city of Kherson and is located on the right bank of the Dnieper Delta. Komyshany belongs to Kherson urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Kherson Oblast ( uk, Херсо́нська о́бласть, translit=Khersónsʹka óblastʹ, ), also known as Khersonshchyna ( uk, Херсо́нщина, ), is an oblast (province) in southern Ukraine, currently claimed and partly occupied by Russia. An oblast ( uk, о́бласть; ) in Ukraine, often called a region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. Ukraine's territory is divided into 24 oblasts, as well as one autonomous republic, Crimea, and two cities with special status, Kyiv and Sevastopol.
