''Knights Adventurous'' is a 1990 role-playing game supplement published by Chaosium for ''Pendragon''. Contents ''Knights Adventurous'' is a supplement in which character creation is expanded by introducing new nationalities, including Saxon, Roman, French, Pictish, Occitanian, and Irish, as well as new religious options such as Pagan, Wotanic, and Jewish. It also provides new rules to cover character wealth and additional campaign setting details. Publication history ''Knights Adventurous'' was written by Phyllis Ann Karr and published by Chaosium in 1990 as a 144-page book with a large color map. Shannon Appelcline noted that the new edition of ''King Arthur Pendragon'' published in 1990 "marked a massive expansion of the game, allowing for the inclusion of many different types of knights through its companion book ''Knights Adventurous'' (1990)." Pendragon (role-playing Game)
''Pendragon'', or ''King Arthur Pendragon'', is a Tabletop role-playing game (RPG) in which players take the role of knights performing chivalric deeds in the tradition of Arthurian legend. It was originally written by Greg Stafford and published by Chaosium, then was acquired by Green Knight Publishing, who in turn passed on the rights to White Wolf Publishing in 2004. White Wolf sold the game to Stewart Wieck in 2009. Wieck formed Nocturnal Media, who updated and reissued the 5th edition originally published by White Wolf. In 2018, it returned to Chaosium. After it was published in 1985, ''Pendragon'' won several industry awards, and reviewers highly recommended it; in following years, it was included in several "Best of" industry lists. Phyllis Ann Karr
Phyllis Ann Karr (born July 25, 1944) is an American author of fantasy, romances, mysteries, and non-fiction. She is best known for her "Frostflower and Thorn" series and Arthurian works. Life and family Karr was born Phyllis Ann Karmilowicz in Oakland, California. Karmilowicz was later shortened to Karr, under which name she married and writes. She married, June 2, 1990, in Washburn County, Wisconsin, Clifton Alfred Hoyt, who died November 4, 2005, in Solon Springs, Wisconsin. She lives in Drummond, Wisconsin. Career Karr's primary literary interests, reflected in both her fiction and non-fiction, include Arthurian legend, William Shakespeare, the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and L. Frank Baum's Oz books. Her early works, including literary articles, poetry, and fantasy and mystery short stories, began appearing in the 1970s.
