Norton Louis Philip Knatchbull, 3rd Earl Mountbatten of Burma (born 8 October 1947), known until 2005 as Lord Romsey and until 2017 as the Lord Brabourne, is a British peer. He is a second cousin of King Charles III. Life and education Lord Mountbatten was born at King's College Hospital in London as the eldest son of Patricia Knatchbull, Mountbatten, later 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma, and John Knatchbull, 7th Baron Brabourne. Mountbatten was educated at the Dragon School, in Oxford, and Gordonstoun School, Elgin, Moray, Scotland. He subsequently attended the University of Kent in southeast England. John Ulick Knatchbull, 7th Baron Brabourne, (9 November 1924 – 23 September 2005), professionally known as John Brabourne, was a British peer, television producer and Oscar-nominated film producer. Married to the elder daughter of 1st Earl Mountbatten, Brabourne was a survivor of the bombing which killed his father-in-law, mother and son. Biography Brabourne was born in 1924, the second son of Michael Knatchbull, 5th Baron Brabourne, and his wife, Lady Doreen Browne. He was educated at Eton College and Brasenose College, Oxford. Edward Hugessen Knatchbull-Hugessen, 1st Baron Brabourne (29 April 1829 – 6 February 1893), known as E. H. Knatchbull-Hugessen, was a British Liberal and later Conservative politician. He served as Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department under Lord Russell in 1866 and under William Ewart Gladstone from 1868 to 1871 and was also Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies under Gladstone from 1871 to 1874. Doreen Geraldine Knatchbull, Baroness Brabourne, (''née'' Lady Doreen Geraldine Browne; 29 May 1896 – 28 August 1979) was an Anglo-Irish aristocrat and socialite. She died as a result of her injuries following an attack off the coast of County Sligo by the Provisional IRA targeting her son's father-in-law, Louis, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, in August 1979. Adrian Norton Knatchbull-Hugessen, (5 July 1891 – 30 March 1976) was a British-born Canadian lawyer and senator. Biography Knatchbull-Hugessen was born in Ashford, Kent, England on 5 July 1891, the son of Edward Hugessen Knatchbull-Hugessen, 1st Baron Brabourne, and Ethel Mary Walker, daughter of Sir George Gustavus Walker. He was educated at Eton College, but emigrated to Canada to study law at McGill University in Montreal. He was called to the Canadian Bar in 1914. During the First World War, he served as a captain in the Canadian Artillery. After the war, he became a successful lawyer and organiser for the Liberal Party of Canada. In the 1935 federal election, he ran unsuccessfully for election to the House of Commons of Canada as the Liberal candidate in the Montreal riding of St. Lawrence—St. George. Dora Bright
Dora Estella Knatchbull (née Bright; 16 August 1862 – 16 November 1951) was a British composer and pianist. She composed works for orchestra, keyboard and voice, and music for opera and ballet, including ballets for performance by the dancer Adeline Genée. Early life and family Dora Bright was born at 375 Glossop Road, Ecclesall Bierlow in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Her father was Augustus Bright, a cutlery manufacturer and hardware merchant. He was a grandson of the jeweller and watchmaker Isaac Bright, who had been one of the founders of Sheffield's Jewish community, having settled there c. 1786. Augustus also served as a vice consul for Brazil, and as a captain of the Hallamshire Volunteer Rifle Corps. He was an amateur violinist and in 1873 Dora, aged nine, performed alongside him in a benefit concert for his military unit. He died on 1 November 1880, at the age of 50.
