Kirjath-sepher
Kirjath Sepher (; in LXX ) was a location in southern Canaan which became part of the land allocated to the tribe of Judah when the Israelites conquered Canaan, according to the Hebrew Bible (Book of Joshua, and Book of Judges, ): ''And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife''. According to the narrative, Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took Kirjath Sepher and so was married to Achsah. Achsah
Achsah bat Caleb (; Hebrew: עַכְסָה, also Acsah), was Caleb ben Yefune's only daughter. Her name comes from the word for "anklet", עכס (''ekes''). She was offered in marriage to the man who would lead an attack on the city of Debir, also called Kirjath-sepher/ Kirjath-sannah. This was done by Othniel, Caleb's nephew or younger brother, who accordingly got to marry her. Papyrus Anastasi I (officially designated papyrus British Museum 10247) is an ancient Egyptian papyrus containing a Satire, satirical text used for the training of scribes during the Ramesside Period (i.e. Nineteenth dynasty of Egypt, Nineteenth and Twentieth dynasty of Egypt, Twentieth dynasties). Othniel
Othniel (; , ''ʿOṯnīʾēl ben Qǝnaz'') was the first of the biblical judges. The etymology of his name is uncertain, but may mean "God/He is my strength" or "God has helped me". Family The Hebrew Bible refers to Othniel as "Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb". The expression is inconclusive in Hebrew, and has been taken to mean either that Othniel himself was the brother of Caleb, or that Othniel's father Kenaz was the brother of Caleb. The Talmud argues that Othniel was Caleb's brother. When Caleb promises the hand of his daughter Achsah to whoever conquers the land of Debir, it is Othniel who rises to the challenge, thus becoming Caleb's son-in-law. Kenaz
Kenaz ( ''Qənāz'', "hunter") is the name of several persons in the Hebrew Bible. * A son of Eliphaz, and a grandson of Esau. He was an Edomite leader. (Genesis 36:11, 15, 42). Caleb
Caleb ( ; , Tiberian vocalization: , Modern Israeli Hebrew: ) is a figure who appears in the Hebrew Bible as a representative of the Tribe of Judah during the Israelites' journey to the Promised Land. Following the Israelite conquest of Canaan, Caleb was described as a Kenizzite and is said to have received lands originally intended for the Tribe of Judah.
