Kingston Panthers
The Kingston Panthers are an English basketball club, based in the city of Kingston upon Hull, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. History The Panthers were founded in November 2011, competing in the local Humber Basketball League. Based at Bishop Burton College, the team was composed of local players from Hull and surrounding areas as well as players from the college. During the 2012/13 season, the Panthers merged with another local team, East Hull Harriers, allowing the club to field a reserve team, as well as taking on a robust and thriving junior setup boasting an under 13's and under 16's team. Following a second season in the local leagues, director Karl Buitendam declared his intention for the team to enter into the English Basketball League system for the 2013/14 season. The National Basketball League, or NBL for short, is a league competition representing semi-professional and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales. It forms levels 2 to 5 on the British basketball pyramid, in line with the Scottish Basketball Championship, sitting directly below the top tier competition, Super League Basketball. Bishop Burton College is a further education land based college based in Bishop Burton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. History The college was established in 1954 as the ''Bishop Burton Farm Institute'' and was one of the first in the country to be awarded beacon status in May 1999 for 'the exceptional quality of its agricultural courses as well as outstanding student support'. Hull Arena (originally Humberside Ice Arena and known locally as the Hull Ice Arena) is an ice rink, in the city of Kingston upon Hull, England. It offers an Olympic-sized pad of . The 2019–20 season of the English Men's National Basketball League, known as the NBL, was the 48th edition of the league. Solent Kestrels were league champions for the second consecutive year. Following the 2018–19 season, the league structure was reorganised. Division 2 was regionalised into North and South regions, while Divisions 3 and 4 were merged to form 5 regional leagues.
