English Basketball League
The National Basketball League, or NBL for short, is a league competition representing semi-professional and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales. It forms levels 2 to 5 on the British basketball pyramid, in line with the Scottish Basketball Championship, sitting directly below the top tier competition, Super League Basketball. For the 2024-25 season, the league will have teams split across four levels: :Division 1 (NBL1) (13 teams) :Division 2 (NBL2) (24 teams across 2 regions) :Division 3 (NBL3) (40 teams across 4 regions) :Conference (51 teams across 5 pools) The league also runs the English Women's Basketball League, with Division 1 and Division 2 North and South, and a junior structure with over 630 teams competing in Under-18s, Under-16s, Under-14s and Under-12s leagues. National Basketball Performance Centre
The National Basketball Performance Centre (NBPC) is a 2,000 capacity, three-court basketball arena located in Manchester, England. Background Construction on the £11m Belle Vue Sports Village, including the 2,000 seat FIBA-standard arena, began in early 2015. The arena was funded by Manchester City Council, Basketball England and Sport England. Tenants In August 2016, it was announced that the Manchester Mystics were to relocate to the NPBC ahead of the 2016–17 Women's British Basketball League, WBBL season. The NBPC is the home of the Basketball England age-group teams. The arena also hosts the governing body's end-of-season National Basketball League (England), National Basketball League playoff finals. Thames Valley Cavaliers
The London Cavaliers are a semi-professional basketball club, based in the Uxbridge area of West London, England. The Cavaliers, formed in 2011, play their home games at Uxbridge College and compete in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system. Liverpool Basketball Club
Liverpool B.C. are a basketball club from the city of Liverpool, England. The Men's first team compete in the English Basketball League Division 2 North league, and the club has youth teams competing in the U18, U16 and U14 Regional Divisions. They play their home games at the Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College. The Derbyshire Arrows are an English basketball club based in Dronfield, Derbyshire. The Arrows play in National Basketball League Division 2 North, the third tier of British basketball. Nottingham Hoods
The Nottingham Hoods are a semi-professional basketball club from the city of Nottingham, England. The Hoods, formed in 2009, compete in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system, and play their home games at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena. History The Hoods were originally formed in 2009, with the men's team taking to the court as part of what was then branded as the EBL Division 4 Midlands League. The team had an impressive first season in Division Four, recording thirteen wins in the league for a second place in the regular season. Tees Valley Mohawks
The Tees Valley Mohawks are an English basketball club in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, which plays in the National Basketball League Division 3, the fourth tier of British basketball. Their home venue is Middlesbrough College. History The Mohawks are arguably the most successful basketball club from the area, having won numerous national trophies. Doncaster Danum Eagles
The Doncaster Eagles are an English basketball club, based in the city of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The team plays in the North conference of the 2nd Division in the National Basketball League (NBL), the third tier of British Basketball. History The Eagles joined the English Basketball League in 2014, and rapidly ascended through the Divisions 3 and 4, achieving back-to-back promotions. However, upon reaching Division 2, the club were forced to move their home games 25 miles away to Scunthorpe due to the unsuitably of their home venue to host Division 2 games. The East London All-Stars are a basketball club based in the Newham area of East London. The team was formed in 2010 as the senior team of the Newham All-Star Sports Academy, or NASSA for short, and were originally named Newham Neptunes before being rebranded to East London All-Stars in 2015. Sussex Bears
The Brighton Bears are an English basketball club, based in the town of Lancing, West Sussex. History The Bears were formed in 2014. Former Worthing Thunder coach and local basketball legend Gary Smith was brought in to lead the club as chairman and first team coach, and with him he brought a number of former Thunder players to form the nucleus of the new team.
