Kiddo was a P-Funk offspring group at A&M Records, formed by Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Michael Hampton and writer Donnie Sterling, in the early 1980s. History In 1978, one of Kiddo's founding members, Donnie Sterling, was a member of Parlet, a P-Funk girl group created by George Clinton. As Parlet's band leader and bass player, Sterling wrote three songs on Parlet's second album, ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'', then became a P-Funk writer for producers Clinton and Ron Dunbar. Sterling wrote songs for Parliament in the late 1970s, and is best known for his vocal performance on "Agony Of Defeet" on the 1980 album ''Trombipulation''. Sterling and his then-wife and Parlet bandmate, Mallia Franklin, left the group in 1979 to form a P-Funk offspring group called Sterling Silver Starship. ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'' is the second studio album by the P-Funk spin off group Parlet. Released in June 1979, it was the final Parlet album to feature Mallia Franklin and the first to feature Janice Evans. The album was produced by George Clinton and Ron Dunbar. The title is a play on '' Invasion of the Body Snatchers'', replacing "Body" with " Booty". The cover art was created by Ronald "Stozo" Edwards. The album's highest-charting single was "Riding High". The album leaned more toward disco, in an effort to keep up with musical trends. ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'' was re-released in Japan on the Casablanca/Polystar label in 1992 and in Germany on Universal in 2003. A Taste of Honey is an American recording act, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1972 by associates Janice-Marie Johnson and Perry Kibble. In 1978, they had one of the best known chart-toppers of the disco era, " Boogie Oogie Oogie". After their popularity waned during the 1980s, Johnson went on to record as a solo artist and released the album ''One Taste of Honey''. ''Let's Take It to the Stage'' is the seventh album by American funk rock band Funkadelic. It was released on April 21, 1975 on Westbound Records. The album charted at number 102 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and number 14 on the R&B Albums. Music and lyrics ''Let's Take It to the Stage'' is a funk rock album. The opening track, "Good to Your Earhole", features extensive guitar parts and a pronounced funk groove played by the rhythm section. According to Funkadelic bandleader George Clinton, the guitar solo for " Get Off Your Ass and Jam" was performed by "a smack addict" guitar player who had found his way into the studio. He asked Clinton if he could play for some cash and proceeded to play "like he was possessed", soloing over the entire duration of the song. Zapp (also known as the Zapp Band, Zapp & Roger) is an American funk band that emerged from Dayton, Ohio, United States, in 1977. Particularly influential in the Electro (music), electro subgenre of funk, Zapp were known for their trademark use of the talk-box effect. The original line-up consisted of four Troutman brothers—frontman Roger Troutman, Roger, Larry, Lester and Terry—first cousin, Sherman Fleetwood—and non-Troutman family members Bobby Glover, Gregory Jackson, Jerome Derrickson, Eddie Barber, Jannetta Boyce and Shirley Murdock. Rosalind Mallia Franklin (March 1, 1952 – February 5, 2010), also known as The Queen Of Funk, was a vocalist of the American funk band Parliament-Funkadelic. She introduced friends George Clinton and Bootsy Collins in 1971, and brought ex- Ohio Player Junie Morrison to the band in 1978. She sang background on early Parliament and Funkadelic albums, and became an original member of Parlet, P-Funk's sub-group, where she recorded '' Pleasure Principle'' in 1978 and half of ''Invasion Of The Booty Snatchers'' in 1979. Trombipulation
''Trombipulation'' is the ninth album by the funk band Parliament (see 1980 in music). It was released by Casablanca Records. It was the last album of original material produced by the group for 38 years, until '' Medicaid Fraud Dogg'' in 2018. Unlike previous Parliament albums, George Clinton did not serve as sole producer of the album, as other P-Funk figures assisted in producing individual tracks. Bassist Bootsy Collins emerged as the principal musician on this album, playing virtually all of the instruments on a number of tracks. The track "Let's Play House" was sampled by the hip-hop group Digital Underground for their single "The Humpty Dance". While ''Trombipulation'' wasn't as commercially successful as previous Parliament albums, its first single, "Agony of DeFeet" peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. Parliament was an American funk band formed in 1968 by George Clinton as a flagship act of his P-Funk collective. Evolving out of an earlier vocal group, Parliament became associated with a more commercial and less rock-oriented sound than its sister act Funkadelic. Their work incorporated Afrofuturism concepts, horn arrangements, synthesizer, and outlandish theatrics. Ronald Dunbar (April 15, 1939 – April 3, 2018) was an American songwriter, A&R director and record producer who worked closely with Holland–Dozier–Holland, and with George Clinton. His co-writing credits include the hit songs " Give Me Just a Little More Time", " Band of Gold", and " Patches", for which he won a Grammy. His Grammy award was sold for $2,350 to the owners of TV show '' Pawn Stars''. It was later returned to the Dunbar family, after it was discovered that the buying and selling of Grammy trophies is not allowed. George Edward Clinton (born July 22, 1941) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and bandleader. His Parliament-Funkadelic collective (which primarily recorded under the distinct band names Parliament (band), Parliament and Funkadelic) developed an influential and eclectic form of funk music during the 1970s that drew on Afrofuturism, outlandish fashion, psychedelia, and surreal humor.
