Kew Bridge Railway Station
Kew Bridge railway station is a railway station in Brentford, the London Borough of Hounslow, and is in Travelcard Zone 3. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South Western Railway. The station was named after the nearby Kew Bridge. History The station was built by the Windsor, Staines and South Western Railway (WS&SWR) and was opened on 22 August 1849 by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR), which had absorbed the WS&SWR whilst that railway was under construction. Originally named ''Kew'', it was renamed ''Kew Bridge'' on 1 January 1869. The North & South Western Junction Railway in a spirit of affording LSWR access to Fenchurch Street operated its admittedly rival 'Kew' station (1853–1866) on the western curve. Hounslow Railway Station
Hounslow railway station, on the Hounslow Loop Line, is in the London Borough of Hounslow, in Greater London, and is in Travelcard Zone 5. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South Western Railway. History The London and South Western Railway opened the calling point on 1 February 1850 on completion of the bridges and embankments at Isleworth station. A temporary station had opened as "Hounslow" 400 metres northeast of the present station on 22 August 1849 to allow a service to run until the loop was connected and the line complete. Orbirail
Orbirail was a name for a suggested orbital railway route around London. It would have connected the extended North London line, East London line, the South London line and the West London line, possibly including the Gospel Oak to Barking line. The combined line would have orbited London in Zone 2, Zone 3 and (possibly) Zone 4. It is not to be confused with London's existing circular railway, the Circle line of the London Underground. Status Although Orbirail had no official status as a planned project, it was completed on 9 December 2012 with the extension of the London Overground from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction, closing the complete loop of London Overground train services on the East London line, South London line, West London line and North London line, although trains do not run round the complete loop in a go, with changes at and needed to travel the whole loop. London Overground
London Overground (also known simply as the Overground) is a Urban rail in the United Kingdom, suburban rail network serving London and its environs. Established in 2007 to take over Silverlink Metro routes, it now serves a large part of Greater London as well as Hertfordshire, with 113 stations on the six lines that make up the network. The Overground forms part of the United Kingdom's National Rail network but it is under the Rail franchising in Great Britain#Concessions, concession control and branding of Transport for London (TfL). Crossrail
Crossrail is a completed railway project centred on London. It provides a high-frequency hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system, akin to the Réseau Express Régional, RER in Paris and the S-Bahn systems of German-speaking countries, known as the Elizabeth line, that crosses the capital from suburbs on the west to east and connects two major railway lines terminating in London: the Great Western Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line. South Acton Railway Station (England)
South Acton is a station on the Mildmay line of the London Overground, situated in South Acton in the London Borough of Ealing. It is in Travelcard Zone 3. Until 1959 it was also served by the District line of the London Underground. History South Acton station was opened on 1 January 1880 by the North & South Western Junction Railway for North London line trains on the London Broad Street – Richmond line. Clapham Junction () is a major railway station near St John's Hill in south-west Battersea, in the London Borough of Wandsworth, England. It lies from and from . Despite its name, Clapham Junction is not in Clapham, a district to the south-east. A major transport hub, Clapham Junction station is on both the South West Main Line and Brighton Main Line, as well as numerous other routes and branch lines which pass through or diverge from the main lines at this station.
