Kennedys
The Kennedy family is an American political family that has long been prominent in American politics, public service, entertainment, and business. In 1884, 35 years after the family's arrival from Ireland, Patrick Joseph "P. J." Kennedy became the first Kennedy elected to public office, serving in the Massachusetts state legislature until 1895. At least one Kennedy family member served in federal elective office from 1947, when P. J. Kennedy's grandson John F. Kennedy became a member of Congress from Massachusetts, until 2011, when Patrick J. Kennedy II (John's nephew) retired as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island. O'Kennedy
The O'Kennedy family (Irish: ''Ó Cinnéide''), sometimes Kennedy, were an Irish royal dynasty, a sept of the Dál gCais, founded in the Middle Ages who were Kings of Ormond. Their founder was the nephew of High King Brian Boru (1002–1014). The name ''Cinnéide'' belonged to Brian Boru's father Cennétig mac Lorcáin, King of Thomond, in the tenth century AD. (Brian Boru was an ''Ard Rí'' or High King of Ireland). The Kennedys did not descend directly from Brian Boru, but from Cinnéide's eldest son Donncuan. Donncuan's son Mahon was the first to call himself ''Ó Cinnéide'' which is Irish for grandson of ''Cinnéide''. Placenames such as Killokennedy in Thomond are indicative of their longstanding presence in the region. John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site
The John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site is the birthplace and childhood home of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States. The house is at 83 Beals Street in the Coolidge Corner neighborhood of Brookline, Massachusetts. Kennedy is one of four U.S. presidents born in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. The property is now owned by the National Park Service; tours of the house are offered, and a film is presented. Wexford (Marshall, Virginia)
Wexford, also known as Kennedy Retreat at Rattlesnake Ridge, is a 167-acre (0.67 km2) ranch amid the Blue Ridge Mountains in unincorporated Marshall, Virginia, located 4 miles (6 km) northwest from Middleburg (about 50 miles (80 km) from Washington, D.C.). The property was acquired, designed, and named by Jacqueline Kennedy in 1962 as a weekend retreat during John F. Kennedy's presidency. Its namesake is the ancestral home of the Kennedy family.
