Ken Rollins
Kenneth Herman Rollins (September 14, 1923 – October 9, 2012) was an American professional basketball player. He competed at the 1948 London Olympics and was a member of the University of Kentucky's "Fabulous Five" who won the 1948 NCAA tournament. His college career was interrupted by service in the United States Navy during World War II. He was voted to the All- SEC and All- SEC Tourney teams following his junior and senior seasons. His brother, Phil, played for the University of Louisville and spent 3 seasons in the NBA. Biography Born in Charleston, Missouri, Rollins played high school basketball in Wickliffe, Kentucky. He later played professionally for the Chicago Stags of the BAA and the NBA, the Louisville Alumnites of the National Professional Basketball League and the Boston Celtics of the NBA. Charleston, Missouri
Charleston is a city in Mississippi County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,056 at the 2020 census, a decrease from 5,947 in 2010. It is the county seat of Mississippi County and since 1968 has been home to the annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival which highlights the old homes and gardens throughout the town. History Charleston is the largest town on the Missouri side near the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the restricted area. Free throws are generally awarded after a foul on the shooter by the opposing team, analogous to penalty shots in other team sports. Free throws are also awarded in other situations, including technical fouls, and when the fouling team has entered the '' bonus/penalty situation'' (after a team commits a requisite number of fouls, each subsequent foul results in free throws regardless of the type of foul committed). Phil Rollins
Phil Lee Rollins (January 19, 1934 – February 8, 2021) was an American professional basketball player. Biography Rollins was selected in the 1956 NBA draft by the Philadelphia Warriors after a collegiate career at Louisville. As a senior in 1955–56 he helped lead the Cardinals to a National Invitation Tournament championship. In Rollins' five-year professional career, most of which was spent in the National Basketball Association (NBA) (his final season was in the American Basketball League), he played for five different teams. In NBA games only, Rollins averaged 5.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
