Keith Adams (filmmaker)
Keith Flexmore Adams (8 September 1926 – 5 April 2012) was an Australian filmmaker and adventurer. Adams was born in Scottsdale, Tasmania. In 1955, Adams filmed an amateur production tilted ''Northern Safari'' (1956), in which he, his wife Audrey, his sister Margaret, and Tiger, a Smooth Fox Terrier, travelled in a 1948 Buick from their home in Perth, Western Australia, across the Gibson Desert to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Adams predated several Australian adventurers by decades, such as Malcolm Douglas (documentary maker), Malcolm Douglas, the Leyland Brothers, Harry Butler, Les Hiddins (The Bush Tucker Man), Paul Hogan's fictional Crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin. He presented his film throughout Australia and several overseas countries. Adams' autobiography, ''Crocodile Safari Man: My Tasmanian Childhood in the Great Depression & 50 Years of Desert Safaris to the Gulf of Carpentaria 1949 – 1999'' (), was published in 2000. Stephen Robert Irwin (22 February 19624 September 2006), known as "the Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian zookeeper, Conservation movement, conservationist, television personality, wildlife educator, and environmentalist. Irwin grew up around crocodiles and other types of reptiles and was educated regarding them by his father, Bob Irwin, Bob. Major Leslie James Hiddins , known as "The Bush Tucker Man" is a retired Australian Army soldier and war veteran. He is best known for his love and knowledge of the Australian bush, in particular "bush tucker", as featured in the TV series ''Bush Tucker Man'' (1988–1996). Harry Butler
William Henry Butler (25 March 1930 – 11 December 2015) was an Australian naturalist and environmental consultant, best known as the presenter of the popular ABC television series '' In the Wild'' from 1976 to 1981. He was a household name as he took viewers to remote parts of Australia observing and admiring the natural environment. His advocacy led to the establishment of offshore islands as reserves for plants and animals, protected from invasive species. Now his legacy is being remembered with Murdoch University's Harry Butler Institute. The new research and education facility brings science, business and the community together to address environmental problems. Malcolm Douglas (14 March 1941 – 23 September 2010) was an Australian wildlife documentary film maker, and crocodile hunter. Douglas started in the 1960s as a professional crocodile hunter and farmer, but later dedicated himself to their preservation. Biography In 1964, 23-year-old Malcolm Douglas and his friend David Oldmeadow ditched their jobs as stock and station agents in the Riverina region of New South Wales and set off on a six-month trip around Australia. Six months turned into four years. It was a journey that shaped Douglas' future. As the pair travelled and explored, they filmed their adventures. The film later turned into the documentary ''Across the Top'', which still holds the rating record for a documentary on Australian television. Karrinyup is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is located 12 km north of Perth central business district, Perth's central business district.
