Keely Froling
Keely Froling (born 31 January 1996) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Launceston Tornadoes in the NBL1. Career College Froling played college basketball for two years at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for the SMU Mustangs. Froling decided to return home after her Sophomore season, to complete her studies and pursue her career in Australia. WNBL Born and raised in Townsville, Froling would begin her WNBL career in her home town, signed as a development player alongside her twin sister, with the Townsville Fire for the 2011–12 WNBL season. Froling remained a member of the Fire's roster through to 2014. She then departed to begin her college career in the United States. Froling cut her college career short and has returned to Australia, after she was signed by the Canberra Capitals for 2016–17. NBL1
NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball league in Australia, consisting of South, North, Central, West and East Conferences with both men's and women's competitions. Each conference is run by their respective state governing body, with the league including 76 clubs from across every state and territory. The league replaced the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Australia's pre-eminent semi-professional basketball league between 1981 and 2018. 2016–17 WNBL Season
The 2016–17 WNBL season is the 37th season of competition since its establishment in 1981. The regular season begins on October 7, 2016 when the Sydney Uni Flames host the Perth Lynx and is scheduled to conclude on February 19, 2017. Townsville Fire were the two-time defending champions, but they were defeated by the Sydney Uni Flames in the Semifinals. The Flames would go on to take home their fourth WNBL title, their first in sixteen years, after defeating the Dandenong Rangers in the final. 2011–12 WNBL Season
The 2011–12 WNBL season was the 32nd season of competition since its establishment in 1981. A total of 10 teams contested the league. The regular season was played between October 2011 and March 2012, followed by a post-season involving the top five in March 2012. The Bulleen Boomers attempted to defend their title, but fell short at the last phase, losing in the finals to the Dandenong Rangers. Broadcast rights were held by free-to-air network ABC. ABC broadcast one game a week, at 1:00PM at every standard time in Australia. Sponsorship included iiNet, entering its second year as league naming rights sponsor. Spalding provided equipment including the official game ball, with Champion supplying team apparel. SMU Mustangs
The SMU Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Southern Methodist University in University Park, Texas, United States. The Mustangs were founded in 1911 and joined the Southwest Conference, competing against Baylor, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Oklahoma A&M (which later became Oklahoma State).
