Aaron D. Kaufer (born July 11, 1988) is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 120th district. Early life and education Kaufer was born on July 11, 1988, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, the son of Neil and Larinda Kaufer. He graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School in 2007 and earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in 'government and law' and 'international affairs' from Lafayette College in 2011. Political career Kaufer first ran for state representative in 2012 against incumbent Democrat Phyllis Mundy, losing 56% to 43%. In December 2013, Mundy announced that she would be retiring. For the 2014 election, Eileen Cipriani was chosen as the Democratic nominee. Kaufer ran again against Cipriani and won, defeating her 56% to 44%. Caroline Kaufer (née Lipson) (August 4, 1962 – March 22, 2005) was an executive of a software development company and a philanthropist, especially for research into neuroendocrine cancer, the disease from which she died. Before her death, Mrs. Kaufer and her husband Stephen Kaufer gave $1.05 million to the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute to fund research of this rare disease. They also donated $250,000 to the Massachusetts General Hospital for similar research. The Stephen and Caroline Kaufer Fund for Neuroendocrine Research continues to support medical research around the world. Kaufer was a graduate of Newton South High School (class of 1980), Harvard College (class of 1984) and Harvard Business School (class of 1988). Evelin Kaufer (later Schmuck; born 22 February 1953, in Sohland an der Spree) is a retired East German sprinter who competed in the 100 metres. At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich Kaufer reached the heats of the 100 m and won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay with her teammates Christina Heinich, Bärbel Struppert and Renate Stecher. Jonathan David Kaufer (March 14, 1955 – October 2, 2013) was an American film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor. Kaufer received his first job while in his late teens as a writer for the sitcom ''Mork & Mindy''. Filmmaker Howard Zieff later hired Kaufer to do rewrites for his films, and his work on the 1979 film ''The Main Event'' led to a development deal enabling him to direct his first film, the romantic comedy '' Soup for One''. At the time, he was the youngest director hired by a major studio. Kaufer did not make another film for seventeen years, however, he had acting roles in two films and wrote and directed an episode of the television series '' Dream On''.
