Katpadi () is a locality in Vellore, at the northern part of Vellore city in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Its railway is located on the gauge line between Chennai-Bangalore and Villupuram-Tirupati. Politics and geography Once a village, Katpadi was upgraded to a panchayat town, with its own ''taluk'' office. It has a major assembly constituency which is part of Arakkonam (Lok Sabha constituency). Katpadi is no longer a separate municipal unit and has become part of Vellore City Municipal Corporation (VCMC). The two places are collectively known as Vellore and together form the eighth-largest city in Tamil Nadu.Katpadi lies in the northern side of the Palar River towards Andhra Pradesh. Katpadi Junction railway station, also known as Vellore Katpadi Junction railway station (station code: KPD) is an A-category junction railway station located in the city of Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Palar River
Palar is a river of southern India. It rises in the Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka state, and flows in Karnataka, in Andhra Pradesh and in Tamil Nadu before reaching its confluence into the Bay of Bengal at Vayalur about south of Chennai.
