Katpadi is a Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, state assembly constituency in Vellore district in Tamil Nadu, India. Its State Assembly Constituency number is 40. It comprises portions of the Katpadi taluk, Katpadi, Vellore taluk, Vellore, and Walajapet taluk, Walajah taluks. It is a part of Arakkonam Lok Sabha constituency for national elections to the Parliament of India. The constituency was formed in 1962 by separating Gudiyatham Assembly constituency. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in India. Vellore District () is one of the 38 districts in the Tamil Nadu state of India. It is one of the eleven districts that form the north region of Tamil Nadu. Vellore, Vellore city is the headquarters of this district. As of 2011, the district had a population of 1,614,242 with a sex ratio of 1,007 females for every 1,000 males. 1977 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The sixth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 June 1977. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) won the election, defeating its rival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). M. G. Ramachandran (commonly known as M.G.R), the AIADMK founder and a prominent Tamil film actor, was sworn in as Chief Minister for the first time. The election was a four-cornered contest among the AIADMK, DMK, the Indian National Congress (INC), and the Janata Party. In 1972, M.G.R founded the AIADMK after being expelled from the DMK due to differences with DMK leader M. Karunanidhi. On 31 January 1976, Karunanidhi's government was dismissed by the central government under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, citing non-cooperation under MISA. The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), representatives from the List of constituencies of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, 234 constituencies in the States and union territories of India, Indian State of Tamil Nadu. 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats (except Thanjavur and Aravakurichi for which held on 26 October 2016) of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a simple majority. The DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested, and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. 2006 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The thirteenth legislative assembly election, of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The twelfth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 May 2001. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led front won the elections and its general secretary, J. The tenth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 15 June 1991.
