Kate (film)
''Kate'' is a 2021 American action thriller film directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and written by Umair Aleem. The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Miku Martineau, Woody Harrelson, Tadanobu Asano, Michiel Huisman, Miyavi, and Jun Kunimura. The film follows Kate (Winstead), an assassin, whose mentor and handler (Harrelson) assigns her to kill a high-ranking yakuza boss. During Kate's final mission, she finds out that she has been poisoned and has at most a day to live, so she uses her last hours to get revenge and find out who set her up. The film was released on September 10, 2021, by Netflix and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Winstead's performance but found the film "disappointingly derivative of numerous other female assassin films". Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (born 9 March 1969) is a French visual effects artist and film director. In 2013 he earned an Academy Awards, Academy Award nomination for Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, Best Visual Effects for his role as visual effects supervisor on ''Snow White and the Huntsman''. The Black List is an annual survey of the "most-liked" motion picture screenplays not yet produced. David Leitch (; born November 16, 1975) is an American filmmaker, stunt performer, stunt coordinator, and actor. He made his directorial debut on the action film ''John Wick'' (2014) with Chad Stahelski, though only Stahelski was credited. Mari Yamamoto (born February 4, 1986) is a Japanese actress and journalist. Born in Japan, Yamamoto would move with her family to London in 1991, before eventually returning to live in Tokyo in 1994 at the age of 8. She described the experience as akin to being an outsider, where she'd be considered "very Japanese everywhere in the world" but "wasn’t quite Japanese enough" in Japan itself.
