Kari Dickson
Kari Dickson is a British translator who specializes in translating works of Norwegian literature into English. She grew up in Edinburgh but spent her summers in Norway with maternal grandparents who did not speak English. She graduated in Scandinavian Studies at UCL, and worked in the theatre for some time. She did literal translations of two Ibsen plays ('' The Lady from The Sea'' and '' Hedda Gabler''), which drove her interest in literary translation, eventually leading to an MA degree in translation from the University of Surrey. Initially she worked as a commercial translator, including several years at the Norwegian central bank. She has since shifted her focus to literature, including literary fiction and non-fiction, Norwegian noir, children's books and stage plays. She now teaches Norwegian language, literature and translation at the University of Edinburgh. Norwegian Literature
Norwegian literature is literature composed in Norway or by Norwegian people. The history of Norwegian literature starts with the pagan Eddaic poems and skaldic verse of the 9th and 10th centuries with poets such as Bragi Boddason and Eyvindr Skáldaspillir. The arrival of Christianity around the year 1000 brought Norway into contact with European medieval learning, hagiography and history writing. Merged with native oral tradition and Icelandic influence, this was to flower into an active period of literature production in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Major works of that period include '' Historia Norwegie'', '' Thidreks saga'' and '' Konungs skuggsjá.'' Rune Christiansen
Rune Christiansen (born 10 April 1963 in Bergen) is a Norwegian poet and novelist. He is a professor of creative writing at Telemark University College. He won the Brage Prize in 2014 and the Gyldendal lifetime award in 2015. Rune Christiansen debuted as a poet in 1986. Since then, he has written twelve collections of poems, and nine novels. He has also translated Alain Bosquet, Eugenio Montale, Frank Kuppner and Edmond Jabès. He grew up at Østerås and resides in Vestfossen. CWA International Dagger
The CWA International Dagger (formerly known as the Duncan Lawrie International Dagger) is an award given by the Crime Writers' Association for best translated crime novel of the year. The winning author and translator receives an ornamental Dagger at an award ceremony held annually. Until 2005, translated crime novels were eligible to be nominated for the CWA Gold Dagger. From 2006, translated crime fiction was honored with its own award conceived partly to recognize the contribution of the translator in international works. Until 2008 the International Dagger was named for its sponsor, the Duncan Lawrie Private Bank. In three of the first four years it was awarded, it was won by Fred Vargas and her translator Siân Reynolds. Roslund & Hellström
Roslund & Hellström were a Swedish duo of crime fiction writers composed of journalist Anders Roslund (born 1961) and activist and author Börge Hellström (1957–2017). They were full-time writers from 2004 to Hellström's death in 2017. Beforehand, Roslund had worked for 15 years as a news reporter for Rapport News, Aktuellt, and Kulturnyheterna. Hellström, an ex-convict, was one of the founders of ''Kriminellas Revansch i Samhället'' (KRIS), an organisation devoted to rehabilitating former criminals. The duo made their debut with the crime novel ''Odjuret'' (English translation: ''The Beast'') in 2004. Their novels put a particular emphasis on the roles of victim and perpetrator, offering a morally grey portrayal of motive and responsibility. Selma Lønning Aarø
Selma Lønning Aarø (born 13 July 1972) is a Norwegian novelist, humorist, children's writer and columnist. She made her literary debut in 1995 with the novel ''Den endelige historien'', about the erotic adventures of a young woman. The novel won a prize for best debut novel from the publishing house J.W. Cappelens Forlag. Later novels are ''Spekulum'' from 1996, and ''Bebudelse'' from 1999. The novel ''Vill ni åka mera?'' from 2003 was nominated for the Brage Prize. Beate Grimsrud
Beate Grimsrud (28 April 1963 – 1 July 2020) was a Norwegian novelist, short story writer, children's writer, scriptwriter and playwright. Literary career Grimsrud was born in Bærum, Norway and settled in Sweden. Arne Svingen
Arne Svingen (born 10 July 1967) is a Norwegians, Norwegian writer of children's books. He also writes adult fiction and books for young adults. Hans Olav Lahlum
Hans Olav Lahlum (born 12 September 1973) is a Norwegian historian, crime author, chess player and organizer, and politician. He has written biographies on Oscar Torp and Haakon Lie, and a history book about all the Presidents of the United States. On May 22–23, 2013, he was interviewed by VG for 30 hours, 1 minute and 44 seconds, setting a Guinness World Record for the longest interview ever, beating the previous record by over four hours. Karin Fossum
Karin Fossum (born 6 November 1954) is a Norwegian author of crime fiction, often referred to as the "Norwegian queen of crime". Early life Karin Mathisen was born on 6 November 1954 in Sandefjord, in Vestfold county, Norway. She currently lives in Sylling, near Oslo. Fossum debuted as a poet with ''Kanskje i morgen'', her first collection published in 1974 when she was just 20. It won Tarjei Vesaas' debutantpris.
