Karami (Arabic كرامي) is an Arabic-based Lebanese surname, particularly that of a famous Lebanese Sunni Muslim political family. It is often francicised in the media as Karamé. Rashid Karami
Rashid Abdul Hamid Karami (30 December 1921 – 1 June 1987) ( ar, رشيد كرامي) was a Lebanese statesman. He is considered one of the most important political figures in Lebanon for more than 30 years, including during much of the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), and he served as prime minister ten times, making him the most democratically elected prime minister in history according to the Guinness Book of World Records 2005. He was assassinated in 1987. Early life and education Rashid Karami was born in Tripoli, North Lebanon, on 31 December 1920 into one of Lebanon's most prominent Sunni political families. He was the eldest son of Abdul Hamid Karami, an architect of Lebanese independence from France. Omar Karami
Omar Abdul Hamid Karami (last name also spelled Karamé and Karameh) ( ar, عمر عبد الحميد كرامي; 7 September 1934 – 1 January 2015) was the 29th prime minister of Lebanon, who served two separate terms. He was Prime Minister for the first time from 24 December 1990, when Selim al-Hoss gave up power, until May 1992, when he resigned due to economic instability. He was again Prime Minister from October 2004 to April 2005. Faisal Karami
Faisal Karami ( ar, فيصل عمر كرامي; born 26 September 1971) is a Lebanese politician. He served as the minister of youth and sports in the cabinet of Najib Mikati between 2011 and 2014. He was a member of the parliament between 2018 and 2022. Early life and education Karami was born into a Sunni family in Tripoli on 26 September 1971. Ahmad Karami (Arabic: أحمد كرامي) (29 August 1944 – 5 July 2020) was a Sunni Lebanese politician and minister of state in the cabinet of Najib Mikati. Early life and education Karami was from a powerful political family based in Tripoli. His father, Mustafa Karami, founded the National Youth Party in 1933. Khalid Karami (born 29 December 1989) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a right back. Club career Karami was born in Amsterdam. Abdul Hamid Karami
Abdul Hamid Karami (23 October 1890 – 23 November 1950) ( ar, عبد الحميد كرامي) was a Lebanese political and religious leader, who had nationalistic Arab inclinations. Biography Karami descended from one of the most prominent Sunni Muslim families in Lebanon. Members of his family traditionally held the position of mufti of Tripoli. Abdul Hamid Karami became mufti of Tripoli, but was removed by the French authorities. He was a leader of the movement to have Lebanon become an independent country, a goal which was achieved by 1943.
