Karakoram International University (KIU) or Karakoram University ( ) is a public sector university located in Gilgit, the capital city of the Gilgit-Baltistan region in northern Pakistan. It was established in 2002 with a charter from the Federal Government of Pakistan, aiming to increase access to higher education in Gilgit-Baltistan. History The Karakoram International University was established with a charter from the Federal government of Pakistan, Federal Government of Pakistan and by the orders of the then president Pervez Musharraf. According to its charter, Karakoram International University is a multi-campus university. Additional campuses are seeking to be established in feasible localities. Mamnoon Hussain (; 23 December 1940 – 14 July 2021) was a Pakistani politician and industrialist who served as the 12th president of Pakistan from 2013 to 2018.
