Kanlıca
Kanlıca is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Beykoz, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its population is 3,943 (2022). It is on the Asian side of the Bosphorus strait. It is known for a yogurt sprinkled with Sucrose#Caster, caster sugar, which is sold in local cafés. Location The Bülbül Creek empties into the Bosphorus at Kanlıca Bay. The Mihrabat Nature Park is situated south of Kanlıca, north of Bülbül Creek. The İskender Pasha Mosque, Kanlıca, İskender Pasha Mosque, commissioned by (military judge) Kazasker Ghazi (warrior), Gazi İskender Pasha and originally built by Mimar Sinan in 1559–60, is located inland from Kanlıca Pier. The tomb of İskender Pasha is attached to the old timekeeper's lodge.The mosque has since been rebuilt so that no trace of the Sinan work survives. The Kanlıca Cemetery () is a burial ground located on the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey. It is administered by the Metropolitan Municipality. Many prominent figures from the world of media and music rest here. Kayahan Açar
Kayahan Açar (29 March 1949 – 3 April 2015) was a Turkish pop music singer-songwriter. He was an accomplished composer, consistently ranking among the best-selling Turkish musicians of all time. Kayahan composed all of his own material and released more than eight best-selling albums during a career spanning three decades. Kayahan released a number of compact cassettes, CDs and albums and had major singles. He represented Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest 1990 with "Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim". İskender Pasha Mosque, Kanlıca
İskender Pasha Mosque () is a historic mosque located in the Kanlıca neighborhood of the Beykoz district of Istanbul, Turkey. Located across the Kanlıca Pier, the mosque was commissioned by (military judge) Kazasker Gazi İskender Pasha and designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan in 1559–60. The mosque has a hipped roof and has been extensively rebuilt. The tomb of İskender Pasha is situated inside the mosque's courtyard. Beykoz
Beykoz () is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Istanbul Province, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 310 km2, and its population is 247,875 (2022). It lies at the northern end of the Bosphorus on the Anatolian side. The name is believed to be a combination of the words bey and ''kos'', which means "village" in Farsi. Bosphorus Intercontinental Swim
The Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim () is an annual open water swimming event between the continents Europe and Asia held annually at Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 1989, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee and sponsored by Samsung. History The event was held for the first time on July 23, 1989 and 64 men and 4 women took part. The next year, the course's start was relocated from Çubuklu to Kanlıca, extending the distance to . In 1992, the event became international with the participation of 22 swimmers from Czechoslovakia and two from the United States. The course record was set in 2006 by Turkish swimmers Alişan Alaşlı in the men's category with 39:07.11 and Beren Kayrak in the women's category with 40:50.35. Sedat Simavi
Sedat Simavi (1896 – 11 December 1953) was a Turkish journalist, writer and film director. He established many newspapers and magazines. Biography Simavi was born in 1896. His grandfather and uncles served in different positions in the office of Ottoman Sultans. His parents were Halil Hamdi Bey and Aliye Hanım. She was granddaughter of Grand Vizier Saffet Pasha. Simavi graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1912. In 1916 Simavi started his first publication entitled '' Hande'', a weekly women's magazine. Then he launched a satirical magazine, '' Diken'' and another women's magazine '' Ä°nci''. His first daily newspaper was '' Dersaadet'' which was established in 1920. Emirgan
Emirgan is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Sarıyer, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its population is 8,052 (2024). It is a leafy, middle-class suburb of Istanbul, on the western shore of the Bosphorus north of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge (Second Bosphorus Bridge). City bus lines 22, 22RE, 25E, 40T and 42T stop in Emirgan. Infrequent Şehir Hatları ferries connect Emirgan with Eminönü, Beşiktaş, Arnavutköy, Bebek, İstinye, Büyükdere, Sarıyer and Rumeli Kavağı. Mihrabat Nature Park () is a nature park located on the Asian part in Beykoz district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Situated southeast of Kanlıca neighborhood of Beykoz next to the Bosphorus, it covers an area of . It was established in 2011. Mimar Sinan
Mimar Sinan (; , ; – 17 July 1588) also known as Koca Mi'mâr Sinân Âğâ, ("Sinan Agha (title), Agha the Grand Architect" or "Grand Sinan") was the chief Ottoman Empire, Ottoman architect, engineer and mathematician for sultans Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II and Murad III. He was responsible for the construction of more than 300 major structures, including the Selimiye Mosque, Edirne, Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, the Kanuni Sultan Suleiman bridge (Istanbul), Kanuni Sultan Suleiman Bridge in Büyükçekmece, and the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad, as well as other more modest projects such as madrasa's, külliyes, and bridges.
