The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. The 2025 NBA draft was the 79th edition of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) annual draft. Like the 2024 draft, this draft took place over two nights. The draft consisted of 59 picks as opposed to the full 60 due to the New York Knicks forfeiting a second round pick from a free agency violation in 2022. The first round of the draft took place on June 25, while the second took place on June 26. Both rounds were held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The time between second-round picks remained four minutes, a change that was made from the previous year's draft.
