Kalman Liebskind
230px, Kalman Liebskind Kalman Liebskind (; born on 1970) is an Israeli journalist. Early life Liebskind was born in Nir Galim and studied at the Yeshivat Or Etzion. He was drafted into the Intelligence Corps of the Israel Defense Forces and upon discharge, worked as a private investigator. Media career In 1997, he was one of the founding journalists at Makor Rishon and worked as an investigative reporter. In 2000, he began working at Maariv. In recent years, Liebskind has published a weekly column in Maariv's "Mosafshabat" which deals with weekly political and current affairs. Between 2011 and 2016, Liebskind co-hosted the main morning news and current affairs radio show with Erel Segal on Galey Yisrael. In October 2016, Liebskind moved to co-host the main morning news and current affairs radio show with Assaf Lieberman on Kan Bet of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation Taagid network. Kan 11 ( ) is an Israeli state-owned free-to-air television channel. Operated by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC), it launched on 15 May 2017, replacing Channel 1 after the closure of the Israel Broadcasting Authority. The Movement for Quality Government in Israel (, ''HaTenu'a Lema'an Ekhut HaShilton BeYisrael'') is a non-profit organization promoting democracy, ethics and good governance in Israel. It is a regular and longstanding petitioner of the Supreme Court of Israel. The organisation was founded in March 1990 by lawyer , initially as a protest movement during the coalition crisis. It created a yearly "Knight of Quality Government" award, with categories including executive, judiciary, legislative, local government, media and military/security. Amikam () is a moshav in northern Israel. Located near Zikhron Ya'akov, it falls under the jurisdiction of Alona Regional Council, whose headquarters are located in the moshav. In , it had a population of . West of the moshav is the Alona Park with the archaeological site Mey Kedem near the coastal city of Caesarea. History The moshav was established in 1950 by Jewish refugees from Harbin, Manchuria and Shanghai, China, who had fled the Chinese Civil War. The land had belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of Sabbarin. The founders were later joined by Jews from the Cyprus concentration camps, and followed by Yemenite Jews. In 1956, a group of Polish Jewish immigrants settled on the moshav. Some of the families engage in fruit farming, raising peaches, plums, nectarines and loquats. A moshav (, plural ', "settlement, village") is a type of Israeli village or town or Jewish settlement, in particular a type of cooperative agricultural community of individual farms pioneered by the Labour Zionists between 1904 and 1914, during what is known as the second wave of ''aliyah''. A resident or a member of a moshav can be called a "moshavnik" (). There is an umbrella organization, the Moshavim Movement. The moshavim are similar to kibbutzim with an emphasis on communitarian, individualist labour. They were designed as part of the Zionist state-building programme following the green revolution in the British Mandate of Palestine during the early 20th century, but in contrast to the collective farming kibbutzim, farms in a moshav tended to be individually owned but of fixed and equal size. Yoav Gallant (; born 8 November 1958) is an Israeli politician and former military officer who served as Ministry of Defense (Israel), minister of defense between 2022 and 2024. Gallant was an officer in the Southern Command (Israel), Southern Command of the Israel Defense Forces, serving in the Israeli Navy. In January 2015 he entered politics, joining the new Kulanu party. After being elected to the Knesset he was appointed Ministry of Construction (Israel), minister of construction.
