Kalkini Upazila
Kalkini () is an upazila of Madaripur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. History Kalkini Police Station was established in 1909 and it was turned into an upazila on 1 February 1984. Kalkini Municipality was established in 1997. The Dasar Police Station was declared on March 2, 2013, with a partial area of Kalkini Police Station. Earlier, the Dasar Union was divided into two units, Betwari and Dasar, and the Nabagram Union divided into two other unions, named Sasikar and Nabagram. A police inquiry center was established at Dasar on February 2, 2012, with a total of six unions, including Gopalpur and Kazibakai unions. Geography Kalkini is located in between 23°00' and 23°10' North latitudes and in between 90°06' and 90°21' East longitudes. It has total area 204.28 km2. An ''upazila'' ( pronounced: ), formerly called ''thana'', is an administrative division in Bangladesh, functioning as a sub-unit of a districts of Bangladesh, district. Kotalipara () is an upazila of Gopalganj District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is one of the five (5) upazilas of Gopalganj. Geography Kotalipara is located at . It has 48,029 households and a total area of 355.90 km2. It is a ''mofussil'' town. It is 4–5 hours from Dhaka via highway by bus (Aricha point) and 3 hours from Mawa point. Rubaiyat Hossain is a Bangladeshi film director, writer, and producer. She made the films '' Meherjaan'' (2011), '' Under Construction'' (2015) and '' Made in Bangladesh'' (2019). Abdus Sobhan Golap (born 11 October 1956) is a politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Madaripur-3 constituency. He is the current Publicity and Publications Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Syed Abul Hossain (1 August 1951 – 25 October 2023) was a Bangladeshi businessman and politician. He was the managing director and chairman of SAHCO International Ltd. Zohra Begum Kazi (15 October 19127 November 2007) was the first Bengali Muslim female physician. She was awarded the Tamgha-e-Pakistan in 1964, Begum Rokeya Padak in 2002, and the Ekushey Padak in 2008. Early life and family Kazi was born in Rajnandgaon, British India now in Chhattisgarh, India. Union council (), also known as union parishad, rural council, rural union and simply union, is the smallest rural administrative and local government unit in Bangladesh, with zila parishads (district councils) being the largest rural authorities and upazila parishads (sub-district council) being the intermediate level.
