Kairana () is a city and a municipal board in Shamli district of the Indian States and territories of India, state of Uttar Pradesh. It is approximately from Shamli, Shamli city. Demographics As of 2011 Indian Census, Kairana had a total population of 89,000, of which 47,047 were males and 41,953 were females. Population within the age group of 0 to 6 years was 16,074. The total number of literates in Kairana was 34,441, which constituted 38.7% of the population with male literacy of 45.4% and female literacy of 31.2%. The effective literacy rate of 7+ population of Kairana was 47.2%, of which male literacy rate was 55.2% and female literacy rate was 38.2%. Iqra Choudhary or Iqra Hasan (born 26 August 1994; , ) is an Indian politician. She is the member of Lok Sabha from Kairana Lok Sabha constituency since 4 June 2024. She is a member of the Samajwadi Party. Early life and education Iqra is the daughter of Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan, a former Member of the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha, and Begum Tabassum Hasan, a former Member of the Lok Sabha. Nahid Hasan is an Indian politician and a member of the 18th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was also a member of the 16th and 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. Hasan represents the Kairana constituency of Uttar Pradesh and is a member of the Samajwadi Party. Hukum Singh (5 April 1938 – 3 February 2018) was an Indian politician who served as the Member of Parliament from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. He was a member of the Panel of Chairpersons of the 16th Lok Sabha, and the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Water Resources. Life Singh was born on 5 April 1938 to Maan Singh and Leelavati in Kairana. He received his Bachelor of Arts and LLB degrees from Allahabad University. Singh married Rewati Devi on 13 June 1958, with whom he has five daughters. Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan
Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan (15 May 1964 – 10 December 2008) was an MP and political activist during Mulayam Singh Yadav's Government between 2003 and 2007. Personal life Munawwar was born in a Muslim Gujjar family to Akhtar Hasan, who was also an MP. One of his ancestors converted to Islam around the turn of the 1900s and the branch of his family which remained Hindu, which include Hukum Singh, are now political rivals. Shamli is a district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This district was carved out from Muzaffarnagar District on 28 September 2011 as Prabudh Nagar and renamed Shamli in July 2012. Shamli is the headquarters of the district.
