KWRU
KWRU (1300 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Fresno, California. The station broadcasts a Punjabi language radio format of music, news and talk. It is owned by Punjabi American Media LLC. Most California Sikhs /Punjabi live in the north and Central Valley, where they've had a presence for more than 100 years. "Central California is probably the most densely populated Sikh/Punjabi community. KIID
KIID (1470 AM) is a radio station licensed to Sacramento, California, United States. The station is owned by Punjabi American Media LLC. It is simulcast with 1450 AM KOBO (Yuba City), KWRU 1300 AM (Fresno) and KLHC 1350 AM (Bakersfield). History KXOA Lincoln Dellar put KXOA on the air on May 15, 1945, at 1490 kHz, alongside an FM outlet at 107.9 MHz. KXOA, Sacramento's fourth radio station, broadcast with 250 watts and was an affiliate of the Don Lee Network and Mutual Broadcasting System. Dellar sold the station in 1946, to Sacramento Broadcasters; the new owners were approved to relocate the station to 1470 kHz with 1,000 watts in 1948. Cal-Val Radio acquired KXOA in 1958, and increased the station's power to 5,000 watts during the day in 1960. KLHC
KLHC (1350 AM) is a multicultural radio station licensed to serve Bakersfield, California which broadcast a Punjabi format. 1350 AM simulcasts on KIID 1470 AM in Sacramento, KWRU 1300 AM in Fresno, and KOBO 1450 AM in Yuba City. Since 2005 the Punjabi/Indian community has increased significantly in Bakersfield. Punjabi-Americans are in trucking and small business in big numbers. On February 19, 1992, it changed to KBID and on January 6, 2006, to the current KLHC. Nielsen Audio (formerly Arbitron) is a consumer research company in the United States that collects listener data on radio broadcasting audiences. It was founded as the American Research Bureau by Jim Seiler in 1949 and became national by merging with Los Angeles-based Coffin, Cooper, and Clay in the early 1950s.
