KSOX (1240 AM, "Visión Hispana") is a Spanish religious radio station in Raymondville, Texas. KGBT (AM)
KGBT (1530 kHz, "TUDN Radio McAllen 1530 AM") is a Spanish-language AM radio station, licensed to Harlingen, Texas, and serving the Rio Grande Valley border area. It is owned by Latino Media Network and airs a sports radio format, supplied by the TUDN Radio Network. By day, KGBT is powered at 50,000 watts non-directional, the maximum for American commercial AM radio stations. But 1530 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for KFBK Sacramento and WCKY Cincinnati. So to avoid interference, KGBT reduces power at night to 10,000 watts. After sunset and during critical hours, it uses a directional antenna with a six-tower array. The transmitter is on Route 491 in Stockholm, Texas. La Joya, Texas
La Joya is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas. The population was 4,374 at the 2020 United States Census. It is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. History Its name, meaning "the jewel", was inspired by a small natural lake west of the city; early settlers were said to observe that the lake shined in the sun like a jewel. The site on which La Joya was founded was part of what was known as "Los Ejidos de Reynosa Viejo". The ''ejidos'' were the shared grazing lands used for the livestock of the settlers of Reynosa Viejo ("Old Reynosa"). AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands.
