KBUL-FM airs a country music radio format, known as "K-BULL", and is owned by Cumulus Media. Its studios and offices are located on Plumb Lane in South Reno. The transmitter is located on McClellan Peak off Sunil Pandit Road, amid the towers for other Reno-area FM and TV stations. KBUL-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 72,000 watts. KKOH (780 AM; "News Talk 780 KOH") is a commercial radio station licensed to Reno, Nevada. It airs a news/talk radio format and is owned and operated by Cumulus Media. Studios and offices are on East Plumb Lane. The transmitter is off Chickadee Drive. KKOH broadcasts at 50,000 watts, the maximum power permitted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for AM stations. A single tower is used during the day, allowing KKOH to be heard around Central and Northern Nevada and some distance into California, providing a strong grade B signal to Sacramento. But because 780 AM is a clear channel frequency, reserved for Class A station WBBM in Chicago, KKOH must broadcast a directional signal at night to avoid interference. Classic Hip Hop
Classic hip hop is a music radio format focusing primarily on hip hop music from the 1980s, 1990s, and the early to mid-2000s. Although stations with such a format date back as far as 2004, the format was first popularized in October 2014, after Radio One dropped a poorly performing news radio format from its Houston station KROI in favor of classic hip-hop.
