KKOO (1260 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Weiser, Idaho, and serving the Boise metropolitan area. The station is owned by Iliad Media Boise and airs an Classic Hits radio format, focusing on the hits of the 1960s and 70s. KKOO calls itself Kool 101.5, with 101.5 MHz being the dial position of its FM signal in Boise. The studios and offices are on East Franklin Road in Nampa. It is powered at 8,400 watts by day. At night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1260 AM, it greatly reduces power to 36 watts. It is also heard on FM translator station 101.5 K268CU in Boise. Fruitland is a city along the Snake and Payette rivers in Payette County, Idaho, United States. Good Time Oldies
Good Time Oldies is a 24-hour music format offered to local radio stations across the country that was originally produced by Jones Radio Networks. After the sales of Jones Radio Networks to Dial Global in 2008, the format was absorbed into D.G.`s "Kool Oldies" format. However, due to radio stations demand, the Good Time Oldies format was brought to Dial Global. The format was programmed by program director Jon Holiday from 1994 through 2003. Good Time Oldies targets a key demographic of white men age 50 to 64. The majority of the network's playlist is from the 1960s and 70s with scattered tunes from the 50s and 80s. Jones Radio Networks was purchased by Triton Media Group, and "Good Time Oldies" was merged to Dial Global's " Kool Gold" network and then quickly brought back as Good Time Oldies due to affiliate demand. Air1 is an American Christian radio network. Owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), it primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History In 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian Hit/Rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. Because there was only one telegraph line linking all railroad stations, there needed to be a way to address each one when sending a telegram. In order to save time, two-letter identifiers were adopted for this purpose. A broadcast license is a type of spectrum license granting the licensee permission to use a portion of the radio frequency spectrum in a given geographical area for broadcasting purposes.
