KLXI (99.5 FM broadcasting, FM) is an American radio station city of license, licensed to serve the city of license, community of Fruitland, Idaho. The station, which began broadcasting in 1984 as KWEI-FM, is owned by the Educational Media Foundation. Until September 1, 2016, the station (as KKOO) broadcast an oldies music format to the greater Boise, Idaho, area. KKOO programming was derived in part from Dial Global Local's syndicated Good Time Oldies format. History This station received its original construction permit for a new FM station broadcasting at 100.9 MHz with 3,000 watts of effective radiated power from the Federal Communications Commission on May 19, 1983 in radio, 1983. Fruitland, Idaho
Fruitland is a city along the Snake and Payette rivers in Payette County, Idaho, United States. It lies along U.S. Route 95 in the Treasure Valley of southwest Idaho, about west of Boise on the border with Oregon. It is part of the Ontario Micropolitan Area. Fruitland is named after apple orchards that surround the community, and its slogan is "The Big Apple of Idaho." Good Time Oldies
Good Time Oldies is a 24-hour music format offered to local radio stations across the country that was originally produced by Jones Radio Networks. After the sales of Jones Radio Networks to Dial Global in 2008, the format was absorbed into D.G.`s "Kool Oldies" format. However, due to radio stations demand, the Good Time Oldies format was brought to Dial Global. The format was programmed by program director Jon Holiday from 1994 through 2003. Good Time Oldies targets a key demographic of white men age 50 to 64. The majority of the network's playlist is from the 1960s and 70s with scattered tunes from the 50s and 80s. Jones Radio Networks was purchased by Triton Media Group, and "Good Time Oldies" was merged to Dial Global's " Kool Gold" network and then quickly brought back as Good Time Oldies due to affiliate demand. Payette County is a county located in Idaho in the United States of America. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,386. The county seat and largest city is Payette. Payette County is part of the Ontario micropolitan area. History The county was established in 1917, partitioned from Canyon County. It was named after the Payette River, which was named after French-Canadian François Payette. Air1 is an American Christian radio network owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), a non-profit Christian ministry. It primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History On July 15, 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian hit/rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD. In 1995, K-LORD changed its name to "Air1" and began broadcasting via satellite from St. Helens, Oregon. Air1 Radio (formerly K-LORD) was originally launched by K-LOVE founder Bob Anthony Fogal and Jon and Noonie Fuglar. In 1999, Air1 joined with EMF Broadcasting, and finally in 2002, it moved its headquarters to Rocklin, California. KKOO (AM)
KKOO (1260 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Weiser, Idaho, and serving the Boise metropolitan area. The station is owned by the Iliad Media Group Holdings Employee Stock Ownership Trust, through licensee Iliad Media Group Holdings Inc., and airs an oldies radio format, focusing on the hits of the 1960s and 70s. KKOO calls itself 101.5 Kool FM, with 101.5 MHz being the dial position of its FM translator in Boise. The studios and offices are on East Franklin Road in Nampa. It transmits with 8,400 watts by day. At night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1260 AM, it reduces power to 36 watts. It is also heard on FM translator station 101.5 K268CU in Boise. It can also be heard on KZMG's second HD Radio digital subchannel, which feeds K268CU. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. Because there was only one telegraph line linking all railroad stations, there needed to be a way to address each one when sending a telegram. In order to save time, two-letter identifiers were adopted for this purpose.
