KLOO (AM)
KLOO (1340 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a news/talk format licensed to Corvallis, Oregon, United States. The station is currently owned by Bicoastal Media Licenses V, LLC and features programming from Compass Media Networks, Premiere Networks and Westwood One. History The Pacific States Radio Company obtained a construction permit for a new full-time radio station with 250 watts on 1340 kHz on October 31, 1946. The station would be the first commercial outlet to serve Corvallis. The president of the company was J. C. Haley, head of the Brown & Haley Co., a candy manufacturer in Tacoma, Washington. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format and popular music genre. Music associated with this term is strongly melodic and uses techniques of vocal harmony and light orchestral arrangements. The format was eventually rebranded as soft adult contemporary. Etymology and usage According to music academic Norman Abjorensen, "middle of the road" has referred to a commercial radio format more often than a music genre, although "it has been used to describe a broad type of music" of numerous styles, usually characterized by vocal harmony techniques, prominent melodies, and subtle orchestral arrangements. MOR is somewhat often used as a derogatory term for this type of music. Klamath Falls ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The city was originally called ''Linkville'' when George Nurse founded the town in 1867. It was named after the Link River, on whose falls the city was sited. The name was changed to Klamath Falls in 1893. The population was 21,813 at the 2020 census. The station maintains a news bureau on South 7th Street in downtown Klamath Falls, and its transmitter is located atop Stukel Mountain. KOTI operates as a full-time satellite of Medford-licensed company flagship KOBI (channel 5), whose studios are located on South Fir Street in downtown Medford. KOTI covers areas of southwest and south-central Oregon that receive a marginal to non-existent over-the-air signal from KOBI, although there is significant overlap between the two stations' contours otherwise. Bend is a city in and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is the principal city of the Bend Metropolitan Statistical Area. KPRB (Oregon)
KPRB was a radio station operating on 1240 AM in Redmond–Bend, Oregon. It went on the air in 1952 and was taken silent in 1994 so that its owner could buy other radio stations in the Bend area. The 1240 frequency was put up for auction after KPRB's license was surrendered and returned to the air as KRDM in 2004. History KPRB signed on as KSGA on October 7, 1952, broadcasting with 250 watts. Owned by Oregon station owner Gordon Allen and Harold Singleton, it was affiliated with ABC upon signing on. Allen, however, sold the station within 9 months to founding general manager F. Gilbert Lieser; the call letters were changed on March 15, 1953 to KJUN, reflecting the name of the new ownership: Juniper Broadcasters. Medford is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States.
