KYAR (98.3 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station licensed to Lorena, Texas. The station airs a Catholic radio, Catholic format and is owned by Red-C Apostolate. History The station began broadcasting on April 10, 1976, as KMCS in Gatesville, Texas, Gatesville. It originally aired Country music, country and easy listening music and was owned by George W. McClarin alongside KCLW (900 AM). After a 1978 sale attempt to Lowell Duncan was not consummated, McClarin found his buyer in Monarch Communications Systems, which purchased the station for $115,000, plus $10,000 for a Non-compete clause, non-compete agreement. By 1981, Monarch was more than $100,000 in debt to McClarin for the purchase of the station, prompting McClarin to seek a default judgment against Monarch in Hamilton County, Texas, Hamilton County court. Hearne, Texas
Hearne ( ) is a city in Robertson County, Texas, Robertson County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the city population was 4,544. The city is named for a family that settled in the area in the 19th century and promoted the construction of rail lines through the city. History Founding Hearne is located on land that initially belonged to politician and soldier José Francisco Ruiz. By the 1840s, a tavern was located there and it also served as a general store and post office. The Hearne family moved to the area in the 1850s, purchasing 10,000 acres and operating cotton plantations. Christopher C. Hearne wanted a railroad line built through the area, but the Civil War started before the railroad could be constructed. His widow later gave 700 acres to the Houston and Texas Central Railway. Hewitt is a city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 16,026 at the 2020 census, making it the second largest city in the county. It is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The community of Hewitt was established following the donation of land by John A. Warren, the town's first businessman, in the 1880s. Warren purchased roughly and the town site was named Hewitt in 1883 for George A. Hewitt, an employee of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. During the following decades, the community flourished on farming and agriculture during the days when "cotton was king". Hewitt grew slowly but steadily, incorporating as a city in 1960, and the population skyrocketed in the 1970s. Air1 is an American Christian radio network owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), a non-profit Christian ministry. It primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History On July 15, 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian hit/rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD.
