Relevant Radio (corporate name Relevant Radio, Inc.) is a radio network in the United States, mainly broadcasting talk radio and religious programming involving the Catholic Church. Relevant Radio broadcasts "talk radio for Catholic life" over a network of 206 stations. Relevant Radio owns and operates 133 stations, and distributes programs to an additional 73 affiliates. Relevant Radio is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois, with additional studios in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The network airs a variety of programming aimed at Catholics and others interested in the Catholic Church. KIHP (1310 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to Mesa, Arizona, serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is owned by Wisconsin-based Relevant Radio, Inc. It airs a Catholic talk and teaching radio format. By day, KIHP is powered at 3,400 watts. But to protect other stations on 1310 AM from interference, at night it reduces power to 260 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna with a single tower. Programming is also heard on FM translator K275CP at 102.9 MHz in Phoenix. History KTYL The station signed on the air in . The original call sign was KTYL. It broadcast on 1490 kHz and was owned by the Harkins Theater group. It was the second station in Mesa, signing on 3 days after KARV (1400 AM). WMQU
WMQU (1230 AM) was a radio station which broadcast a Catholic radio format as an affiliate of Relevant Radio. Licensed to Grayling, Michigan, the station was owned and operated by Sheryl & Gerald Coyne, through licensee Blarney Stone Broadcasting, Inc. Blarney Stone also owns WGRY-FM and WQON, co-located at WMQU's broadcast facilities in Grayling. The station went on the air in 1970 as WGRY, became WMQU in 2016, and ceased operations in 2024. History When WGRY went on the air at 1590 AM in August 1970, the staff included co-owners, James Sylvester as Station Manager and Jim Marr as Engineer. The first employee hired was Wayne Andrew Hindmarsh, better known as "Wayne Andrews" on the air, fresh from Wayne State University. IHR Educational Broadcasting dba Immaculate Heart Radio operated a network of radio stations that aired Roman Catholic religious programming. The network provided a 24-hour a day schedule consisting of call-in talk shows, interviews and broadcasts of the Mass. Hosts periodically asked for financial donations to fund the network and the operation of its stations. Immaculate Heart Radio's headquarters were located in Loomis, California. This location also served as its main broadcasting studio, where programming and production work was done for the stations within the network. The organization got its name from the Catholic devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Loomis (formerly Pine, Pino, Smithville, and Placer) is an incorporated town in Placer County, California, United States. It is part of the Sacramento metropolitan area.
