KIFW
KIFW (1230 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Classic Hits, Oldies, Full-Service format. Licensed to Sitka, Alaska, United States, the station serves the Alaska Panhandle area. The station is owned by Alaska Broadcast Communications, and features programming from ABC Radio. The studios for KIFW and its sister station KSBZ are at 611 Lake Street in Sitka. Programming The station primarily broadcasts adult contemporary music but also airs a "Problem Corner" show where listeners call concerning local issues, among other subjects. KIFW also broadcasts Sitka High School sports games and airs live coverage of the Sitka Salmon Derby. In January 2000, KSBZ switched to a country music format. KSBZ (103.1 FM, "Mix 103", formerly classic rock "Rock 103"/alternatively known as "The Rock") is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Sitka, Alaska. The station, established in 1990, is currently owned by Alaska Broadcast Communications, Inc. Programming KSBZ broadcasts a hot adult contemporary music format to the Metro Sitka area. Some programming on the station had derived from Cumulus Media's "Classic Rock" radio network, in its "Rock 103" days. Since the station re-branded as "Mix 103," the syndicated programming and playlist have become identical to that of its Juneau counterpart Mix 106. Sitka High School
Sitka High School (abbreviated SHS) is the principal high school for the Southeast Alaskan community of Sitka and the Sitka School District. The school's student body is primarily composed of Alaskan Natives, and Asian-Pacific Islanders and Caucasians. Academics Three Advanced Placement courses are offered: AP Statistics, AP Calculus, and AP Human Geography. Sondra Lundvick is the current principal and Tyler McCarty is the current vice principal. Extracurriculars Sitka High School's sports teams are known as the Sitka Wolves with female teams sometimes known as the Lady Wolves.
