KDPS is a radio station in Des Moines, Iowa. The station is owned by Des Moines Public Schools. The school district programs the station with a variety of rock music styles and staffs it with high school students who are learning radio. Children's programming Kids Radio Mania is the station's weekend radio programming format. Kids Radio Mania is produced by Professor Stephen Winzenburg at Grand View University and airs every Saturday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. central time and Sunday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. during summers and holidays, Sundays 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the school year. Kids Radio Mania started in 1992 as a four-hour Saturday morning kids music format. Originally produced on large one-hour reel-to-reel tapes, the format used the little amount of children's music that was available at the time. Des Moines () is the capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is also the county seat of Polk County. A small part of the city extends into Warren County. KCBC-FM (defunct)
KCBC-FM (94.1 FM, "KCBC 94") was a radio station in Des Moines, Iowa from 1949 to 1952. Its studios were located at 2323 Grand Avenue on the near west side of Des Moines. The original transmitter and tower were also located on the property until 1950. In 1950, KCBC purchased the former WHO-FM transmitter and tower on top of the Equitable Building at 6th and Locust in downtown Des Moines. Format The format that KCBC-FM adopted was an Easy Listening format that was targeted at people riding the city's buses. At the rear of KCBC's Grand Avenue property there was a barn where they installed FM receivers in the city's buses. The plan to target music and advertisements to the city's bus riders was not a profitable one, and after just four years, KCBC-FM left the air, donating their transmitter to the Des Moines Public Schools. Raffi Cavoukian, ( hy, Րաֆֆի, born July 8, 1948), known professionally by the mononym Raffi, is a Canadian singer-lyricist and author of Armenian descent born in Egypt, best known for his children's music. He developed his career as a " global troubadour" to become a music producer, author, entrepreneur, and founder of the Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring, a vision for global restoration. Variety is a radio format that plays music across numerous genres. Free-form variety is associated with a wide range of programming including talk, sports, and music from a wide spectrum. This format is usually found on smaller, non-commercial public broadcasting stations such as college radio, community radio or high school radio stations. If a variety formatted station has a program director, that person exerts little if any influence on the music or other programming choices beyond the normal regulatory control required by that country's licensing regulations. A-Teens (stylized as A★TEENS or A*Teens) were a Swedish pop music group from Stockholm, Sweden, formed by Niklas Berg in 1998 originally as an ABBA tribute band called ABBA-Teens and was later renamed A-Teens. The band members were Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald and Sara Lumholdt. The band's debut album became a success around the world.
