K. Hariharan (director)
K. Hariharan is an Indian film director who has directed films in Tamil, Marathi and Hindi. Until 2021 he was the professor of Film Studies at Krea University. Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, his father H.Krishnan was the Chairman of Eastman Kodak. An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Hariharan formed "Yukt Film Co-operative" in 1976 together with his batch mates to make an experimental film called ''Ghashiram Kotwal (film)''. ''Ezhavathu Manithan'', his directorial debut in Tamil cinema, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil and was nominated for Golden St. George (Best Film) at the Moscow International Film Festival. Saeed Akhtar Mirza (born 30 June 1943) is an Indian screenwriter and director in Hindi films and television. He is the maker of notable parallel films such as '' Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho!'' (1984), '' Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai'' (1980), '' Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro'' (1989) and '' Naseem'' (1995), which won two National Film Awards in 1996. Current is a 1992 Indian drama film. The film was co-written and directed by K. Hariharan, in his Hindi cinema debut, for the National Film Development Corporation of India. Starring Om Puri and Deepti Naval in the lead, the film focused on the plight of a farmer in rural India. The plot of the movie was based on a short story written by sahitya-akademi winner Ki. Raghuvaran Velayuthan Nair (11 December 1958 – 19 March 2008) was an Indian actor who predominantly acted in films made in South India. He has acted in more than 200 Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. Ghashiram Kotwal
'' Kotwal'' is a Marathi play written by playwright Vijay Tendulkar in 1972 as a response to the rise of a local political party, in Maharashtra. The play is a political satire, written as historical drama. It is based on the life of Nana Phadnavis (1741–1800), one of the prominent ministers in the court of the Peshwa of Pune and Ghashiram Kotwal, the police chief of the city. Its theme is how men in power give rise to ideologies to serve their purposes, and later destroy them when they become useless.Jayant Karve and an American professor Eleanor Zelliot jointly translated Ghashiram Kotwal from the Marathi into English (Calcutta, 1984).
