K-Cut
Kevin McKenzie (born July 25, 1971), professionally known as K-Cut, is a Canadian record producer and DJ, most notably as a member of East Coast hip hop group Main Source. Early life and family Born in Toronto to a Jamaican father and an Afro-Guyanese mother, Sandra McKenzie, K-Cut's family moved to Queens, New York City, when he was a child. He and his brother Sir Scratch (Shawn McKenzie) were both DJs and attended John Bowne High School in Flushing, Queens, where K-Cut met future group member Large Professor. His mother was very supportive of her sons' aspiring hip hop careers, funding their studio time and becoming the manager of their group Main Source. K-Cut is the cousin of fellow producer Rashad Smith, as well as musician Eddy Grant. His maternal grandfather was a Toronto-based soul/disco singer in the 1970s. Main Source
Main Source was an East Coast hip hop group based in New York City/Toronto, composed of Toronto-born DJs and producers, K-Cut and Sir Scratch, and Queens MC and producer Large Professor. Later, another Queens MC, Mikey D (Michael Deering), replaced Large Professor. History Main Source was founded in 1989. The group's first album, '' Breaking Atoms'', released in July 1991, featured tracks such as " Looking at the Front Door", "Just a Friendly Game of Baseball", and "Watch Roger Do His Thing", as well as the first on-record appearance of Nas on "Live at the Barbeque," which also featured Joe Fatal and Akinyele. Nature Of A Sista'
''Nature of a Sista''' is the second studio album by American rapper Queen Latifah. Released on September 3, 1991, it served as a follow-up to her 1989 debut album ''All Hail the Queen'' and was her final album with Tommy Boy Records. Rashad Smith (producer)
Burton Rashad "Ringo" Smith (born September 28, 1972) is an American hip hop and R&B record producer. He was born in England and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, United States, in a Jamaican and Haitian family. Rashad grew up alongside notable hip hop artists such as Mos Def, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, among others. At the age of 19, he provided beats to Main Source, Eric B and Rakim and A Tribe Called Quest. He proceeded further into the music business by working directly with Andre Harrell at the newly minted Uptown Records. While at Uptown, Rashad met session keyboardist Avon Marshell with whom he formed Tumblin Dice. The duo went on to produce for Uptown's biggest artist's, including Mary J. Blige and Jodeci's early albums. Infinite (rapper)
Desmond Francis, better known by his stage name Infinite, is a Canadian rapper, best known for his contributions to the '' Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike'' soundtrack, and as a member of hip hop group Ghetto Concept. Raised in the Rexdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Infinite is the youngest of three brothers. He began his career as a DJ for Ghetto Concept, debuting as a rapper on the group's 1994 single "E-Z on tha Motion", which won a Juno Award for Best Rap Recording. The music video for "E-Z on tha Motion" aired on BET and '' Video Music Box'', gaining the group an American audience. Edmond Montague Grant (born 5 March 1948) is a Guyanese-British singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known for his genre-blending sound; his music has blended elements of pop, British rock, soul, funk, reggae, electronic music, African polyrhythms, and Latin music genres such as samba, among many others. In addition to this, he also helped to pioneer the genre of " Ringbang".
