Just Knut Qvigstad
Just Knut Qvigstad (20 December 1902 – 6 May 2001) was a Norwegian engineer. He was born in Tromsø as a son of educator and politician Just Knud Qvigstad (1853–1957) and Margrethe Antonette Aagaard (1859–1949). In 1933 he married Gunvor Wefring (1909-1963). He enrolled as a student in 1921, and graduated in electrical engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1928. He worked in AEG from 1928, and as an assistant at the Norwegian Institute of Technology from 1929. He took the dr.techn. degree in 1937 with the thesis ''Zur Theorie des Arbeitsdiagrammes der einphasigen Induktionsmaschine''. He was a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. He worked as an engineer in Glommens Træsliberi from 1936, and chief engineer from 1945. He was a chief engineer in A/S Kykkelsrud, a hydroelectric power plant company, from 1955 before being technical director in the company Hafslund from 1962 to 1969. Tromsø
Tromsø (, , ; se, Romsa ; fkv, Tromssa; sv, Tromsö) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Tromsø. Ullern
Ullern is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. History The borough has its name from an old farm, Norse ''Ullarin''. The first element is the genitive case of the name of the Norse god Ullr. The last element is ''vin'', meaning pasture or meadow. In Medieval times, the farm belonged to the monastery at Hovedøya. Following the Reformation in 1536, the farmland was separated between the crown and the local canon. Formally divided into lower and upper Ullern in 1740, both farms were bought by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, in 1878 and 1866 respectively. At the time, Ullern was a part of the rural municipality Aker. Signs of urbanization began in the 1800s, when Skøyen and areas along the Lysaker River, which divides Ullern from Bærum, began developing into industrial sites. The 1872 opening of the Drammen Line railway was a catalyst for further building activity, as were the 1912 opening of the Smestad Line and the 1919 extension of the Skøyen Line to Lilleaker. Hafslund AS is a group with ownership within the power industry. The group is fully owned by Oslo municipality. Hafslund's core business streams are hydropower, with 56 percent ownership in Norway's second largest hydropower company Hafslund Eco AS, and district heating, as majority shareholder (60 percent) in Norway's largest district heating company Hafslund Oslo Celsio AS. Just Knud Qvigstad
Just Knud Qvigstad (4 April 1853 – 15 March 1957) was a Norwegian philologist, linguist, ethnographer, historian and cultural historian. He was also a headmaster in Tromsø, and a politician for the Conservative Party who served as mayor of Tromsø and as Minister of Education and Church Affairs. Personal life He was born in Lyngseidet as a son of district physician Engebret Qvigstad (1814–1869) and Petra Krogh Wadel (1828–1905). In August 1885 in Hammerfest he married Margrethe Antonette Aagaard (1859–1949). Their son Just Knut Qvigstad was a notable engineer. He was also a brother-in-law of Arnfinn Palmstrøm. Career in education and politics He was homeschooled until the age of ten, when he moved to Tromsø where he took the examen artium in 1869. Kykkelsrud
Kykkelsrud is a village in Askim municipality, Norway. Located a few kilometres west of the town Askim, it is a part of the urban area of the same name, which has a population of 12,570. Kykkelsrud, located on the east bank of the Glomma river, has a power plant which harnesses the Kykkelsrud waterfall.
