Juris Štāls
Juris Štāls (born April 8, 1982) is a Latvian former ice hockey player. He last as a Winger (ice hockey), right wing for HK Kurbads of Latvian Hockey Higher League. He was drafted in the ninth round (269th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. He has also played for the Latvian national ice hockey team at the Latvia at the 2014 Winter Olympics#Ice hockey, 2014 Winter Olympics. Playing career He started his career in 1999, when he joined the Lukko junior team, and played there for two seasons. In 2001, the New York Rangers drafted him 269th overall, and he went to North America to play for Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 2002-03 he mostly played with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL, and for Vaasan Sport, plus two games for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Latvian National Ice Hockey Team
The Latvian men's national ice hockey team represents Latvia in international ice hockey. The team is ranked 10th in the world by International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF as of 2023. The team is controlled by the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation. Their best ever finish at the World Championships was in 2023, when they won the bronze medal. Czech Extraliga
The Czech Extraliga () is the highest-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic. It was created in 1993 following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia midway through the 1992–93 Czechoslovak Extraliga season (which all Slovak and Czech teams played to completion). The league's season usually takes place between September and April and features 14 teams. Teams from the ELH participate in the IIHF's annual European tournament in the CHL. The All-Russian Hockey League B or VHL-B (, ''Pervenstvo Vserossiyskoy hokkeynoy ligi'') is an ice hockey league in Russia. It stands at the third-tier of the Russian ice hockey pyramid, below the second-level VHL and the top-tier KHL. History Since 1992, it was the First League of the Russian Ice Hockey Championship. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a minor professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams across the United States and Canada. Competitively, it is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league serves as a farm system to the AHL and National Hockey League (NHL). The Charlotte Checkers were an American ice hockey team in Charlotte, North Carolina, and played in the ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League). Franchise history Following a 17-year break from ice hockey, the Checkers returned in 1993 and made the playoffs ten times, including winning the ECHL Championship in 1996. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America that serves as the primary developmental league of the National Hockey League (NHL). Sport, known by its full name as Hockey Team Vaasan Sport Oy or simply Vaasan Sport, is a Finnish ice hockey team playing in Liiga, and is based at the 5,200-capacity Vaasa Arena in Vaasa. The team was established in 1939 as IF Sport (Idrottsföreningen Sport). History Vaasan Sport was founded in 1939 as IF Sport. The Owen Sound Attack are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League based in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Based in Owen Sound since 1989, and operating under the current name since 2000, the Attack play their home games at the J. D. McArthur Arena inside the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
