Juno Awards Of 2001
The Juno Awards of 2001 were held in Hamilton, Ontario Canada during the weekend of 3–4 March 2001. The primary ceremonies were hosted by Rick Mercer at Copps Coliseum on 4 March 2001 and broadcast on CBC Television. Performers during the telecast included: Deborah Cox, Nelly Furtado, The Guess Who, Jacksoul, Michie Mee, The Moffatts and Treble Charger. Nominations were announced 24 January 2001. Nelly Furtado received five nominations and won four of these. The 2001 awards were the last Junos broadcast on CBC Television until 2018. From 2002 to 2017, the awards would move to CTV. Up to 2001, every primary Juno ceremony had been aired on the CBC since the first Juno telecast in 1975. Juno Awards
The Juno Awards (stylized as JUNOS), or simply known as the Junos, are awards presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize outstanding achievements in Canada's music industry. The Grammy Awards are the United States' equivalent of the Juno Awards. Alongside the Canadian Screen Awards, they are considered one of the main annual Canadian entertainment award shows. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies. History The Juno Awards were originally called the RPM Gold Leaf Awards named after RPM Magazine. The winners would be announced in RPM magazine before awards night. Juno Awards Of 1975
The Juno Awards of 1975, representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year, were awarded on 24 March 1975 in Toronto at a ceremony in the Canadian National Exhibition. Paul Anka was the host for the ceremonies, which were broadcast for the first time. Canadians were able to watch the event on CBC Television from 10pm Eastern Time. Stompin' Tom Connors, Susan Jacks, Terry Jacks, Andy Kim, Anne Murray, and The Stampeders appeared at the ceremonies. With the move to television, control over the Junos shifted from Walt Grealis' ''RPM'' Magazine to the new Canadian Music Awards Association. Grealis was now in an advisory role for the Junos, and according to ''The Globe and Mail'', his founding role was not acknowledged during the Junos broadcast. Adam Gregory (born July 12, 1985) is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter and actor. Nicola Ciccone is a Canadian francophone singer-songwriter, novelist and writer of Italian origin. His songs have been mainly in French but also in English, Italian, and Spanish.
