Juan Valdivia
Juan Valdivia Navarro (; born December 3, 1965), is a Spanish musician and songwriter. He became famous internationally for being the lead guitarist of Héroes del Silencio. He is known by his fans as "El Maestro" and has a school named after him in Ratanpur, India. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge, shoegaze, and Britpop subgenres in the United States and United Kingdom, respectively. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. The emergence of Generation X as a cultural force in the 1990s also contributed greatly to the rise of alternative rock. "Alternative" refers to the genre's distinction from mainstream or commercial rock or pop. ''Avalancha'' (Spanish for "Avalanche") is the fourth and final studio album released by Spanish rock band Héroes del Silencio in 1995. It is the only album in which Mexican guitarist Alan Bogulavsky plays as a full-time member of the band. It is to date their last studio recorded album. It is considered a turning point in the Rock en Español movement of the 90's and a classic in its own right. It was produced by Bob Ezrin (Lou Reed, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper, Kansas, Kiss, etc.) and recorded mostly in different studios in the Los Angeles area. It was followed by a very successful 18-month world tour after which the band went on hiatus until the announcement of a 10 date world tour in early 2007. Reception The album reached the top position in the Spanish album charts and scored positions among the top 20 in three other European countries.
