Josh Portman
Joshua David "Josh" Portman (born October 26, 1979) is an American musician who is best known for playing bass guitar for the rock band Yellowcard since February 2012. Since 1994, he has played bass and guitar in a number of well-known punk/post-hardcore bands including Near Miss and Staring Back. Near Missat Allmusic Early life Portman was born on October 26, 1979. His younger years were spent living in Madison, WI before moving with his family to Perry, GA upon entering fourth grade. At the age of twelve, Josh received his first guitar and has been writing, recording, and performing ever since. Initially influenced by the glam and thrash metal bands of the '80s, Portman later immersed himself in the post-hardcore and Seattle bands of the early '90s and then the "new school" punk bands of the mid-'90s. ''Yellowcard'' is the tenth studio album by American rock band Yellowcard. It was released on September 30, 2016, through Hopeless Records. This was the last album the band released before their breakup in 2017 and reformation in 2022. Background On February 24, 2016, Yellowcard announced that they had re-signed with independent label Hopeless Records and had begun work on their next record. The seventh track "Empty Street" was originally recorded as a Big If (ex-bassist Sean O'Donnell and Key's former side project) demo in 2009. The eighth track "I'm a Wrecking Ball" was a demo originally recorded in 2008 by Key, guitarist Ryan Mendez and Dan McLintock of Inspection 12. ''Lift a Sail'' is the ninth studio album by American rock band Yellowcard. This was the band's first album without drummer Longineu W. Parsons III, who left the band in March 2014. ''Ocean Avenue Acoustic'' is an acoustic reinterpretation by Yellowcard of their fourth studio album, '' Ocean Avenue'' (2003). It is the band's last recorded material with founding drummer Longineu Parsons III. Production Sessions for ''Ocean Avenue Acoustic'' were held at Robert Berson Studios, Eli's Place, and Room 219 at The Inn at Renown Regional Medical Center. It was produced by Ryan Key and Erich Talaba, who also handled recording and mixing. The album was mastered by Paul Leavitt. ''Childhood Eyes'' is an EP recorded by American rock band Yellowcard. It was released on July 21, 2023 through Equal Vision Records, and was their only release on the label. The project marks the band's first studio material in nearly seven years, following their self-titled album in 2016 and subsequent breakup the following year. Reeve Oliver is an American pop rock band formed in 2000 in San Diego, California. They have released two albums and several EPs and have toured with larger acts such as The Vandals, Yellowcard, and Switchfoot. They have been locally recognized at the San Diego Music Awards, earning "best rock album" in 2003 for '' The Reeveolution EP'' and again in 2005 for '' Reeve Oliver'', and being named "best rock act" at the 2006 awards. Band history Reeve Oliver was formed by vocalist/guitarist Sean O'Donnell while he was a member of the Christian punk band Dogwood.
