Jonah Harris
Jonah Harris (born 16 January 1999) is a Nauruan track and field athlete who specializes in the 100 metres and the 200 metres. Harris most notably represented Nauru at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia and was the first ever athlete representing Nauru at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo. He currently holds the national records for Nauru in the 60 metres indoor event, the 100 metres and the 200 metres and has one more national record still awaiting ratification from the Nauru Athletics Association (NAA). 2016–17 Prior to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games, the only competitions Harris had experience with was school meets in Queensland and only achieving a personal best time of 11.94 seconds. 2017 Pacific Mini Games
The 2017 Pacific Mini Games were held in Port Vila, Vanuatu, in December 2017. It was the tenth edition of the Pacific Mini Games, and the second to be hosted in Vanuatu (after the 1993 games). Host selection Vanuatu was awarded the right to host the games at a September 2011 meeting of the Pacific Games Council's General Assembly. Nauru and the Northern Mariana Islands were the other countries to bid. The event was originally planned for September 2017 but preparations were delayed by Cyclone Pam. Both rounds of voting took place on the 4 September 2011 with Nauru eliminated after the first round. In the final round, Vanuatu edged Northern Mariana Islands by 4 votes to earn hosting rights. Christian Coleman
Christian Coleman (born March 6, 1996) is an American professional track and field sprinter who competes in the 100 meters and 200 meters. He is the former world champion in the 100 meters. He was a double gold medallist at the World Championships in Athletics in 2019, winning gold medals in both the 100 m and 4 × 100-meter relay. He holds personal records of 9.76 seconds for the 100 m, which made him the 6th fastest all-time in the history of 100 metres event, and 19.85 for the 200 m. Coleman is the world indoor record holder for the 60 meters with 6.34 seconds. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 17th IAAF World Indoor Championships was held from 1 to 4 March 2018 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This was the city's second hosting of the event as it previously did so in 2003. Bidding process Birmingham bid for the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships as well as the 2018 event. Portland was selected unanimously to host the 2016 event with Birmingham being the only other bidder. With Portland then out of the running for the 2018 event Birmingham was selected as the host of the 2018 event. The reason Portland was selected for 2016 and Birmingham for 2018 is that the IAAF wanted more time between events in the UK with London hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics as well as the 2017 World Championships in Athletics along with Cardiff hosting the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Kelvin Tuʻiala Masoe (born 4 March 1999 in Satuiatua) is a Samoan track and field sprinter who competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He attended school at Vaiola College on the island of Savaii in Samoa. Athletics career Masoe competed for Samoa at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the men's 100 m and the men's 200 m sprint events. In the men's 100 m, Masoe was drafted into heat 2 of the competition, he ran the race in a new personal best of 10.72 seconds and finished fifth place out of out of seven athletes, this time was unable to advance Masoe through to the later rounds. In the men's 200 m, Masoe was drafted into heat 7 and finished seventh out of the eight athletes that raced, beating only Pako Seribe who did not finish the race.
