Johnny Reginald Davis (born October 21, 1955) is an American former professional basketball player and coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in the NBA with four teams in ten years from 1976 to 1986, winning an NBA championship in his rookie season (1976–77) with the Portland Trail Blazers. He also played for the Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 1996–97 NBA season Davis coached the Philadelphia 76ers, and he coached the Orlando Magic for nearly two seasons from 2003 to 2005. On June 21, 2007, he was named assistant coach by new Grizzlies head coach Marc Iavaroni. Davis had previously served as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Los Angeles Lakers. Jonathan Christian Davis (born February 27, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers. Early life Davis is the son of former NBA player Mark Davis. He played basketball for La Crosse Central High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He helped the school win a Division 2 state title as a freshman. In his junior season, Davis averaged 23 points and 9 rebounds per game, earning ''La Crosse Tribune'' Player of the Year honors. As a senior, he averaged 27.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. He was named Wisconsin Mr. Basketball and repeated as ''La Crosse Tribune'' Player of the Year. Johnny Lee Davis (born July 17, 1956) is an American former professional football player who was a running back for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1978 to 1987. Davis was a member of the 1981 San Francisco 49ers team that won Super Bowl XVI. He is a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Johnny Morris Davis (born July 15, 1962) is an American former kickboxer who competed in the welterweight and middleweight divisions. Nicknamed "Superfoot", Davis held numerous titles including two world championships. Career Johnny Davis was born in Dillon, South Carolina, and currently resides in the Carolinas. He began martial arts training in karate and eventually reached the rank of second degree black belt. After a successful run competing in point fighting tournaments, he made the jump to full contact kickboxing. From 1980 to 1984, he won numerous regional kickboxing titles before beating Alvin Prouder for the PKA World Welterweight Championship in Denver, Colorado on February 2, 1985. In 1987, he won the FFKA Championship and also won the ISKA U.S. Middleweight Championship that year in a bout featured on ESPN. John Gustave Davis (April 11, 1910 – October 28, 1983) was an American actor, singer and trumpeter. Biography Born in Brazil, Indiana, into a family of musicians, Davis developed an interest in music during his childhood. He learned to play the trumpet and by the age of 13 was performing with his grandfather's band. After graduating from high school he worked as a musician for several orchestras, including theater orchestras in nearby Terre Haute, Indiana, such as Paul Johnson's orchestra and the Leo Baxter Orchestra. Art Davis, his younger brother, also worked for Leo Baxter. Davis's work with bands led him to discover and develop his ability as a scat singer. By 1933 was living in New York City.
