John Stanier (drummer)
John Stanier is an American drummer who is best known for his work with alternative metal band Helmet. He currently plays in experimental rock band Battles and Tomahawk, and has previously performed with The Mark of Cain, as well as performing on several releases as a studio musician. He is known for his speed, endurance, and precision as a performer. Stanier uses a Tama Artstar II drum kit. Biography Stanier grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Florida and is a veteran of the local hardcore music scene. He is known for having a drum corps background, but never actually marched a summer season. He played tenor drums for the Florida Wave Drum and Bugle Corps through a few years of their winter/spring camps. He studied orchestral percussion at the University of South Florida, but never took formal drum set lessons. Stanier cites Neil Peart as his biggest influence. The Moers Festival is an annual international music festival in Moers, Moers, Germany. The festival has changed from concentrating on free jazz to including world music, world and pop music, though it still invites many avant-garde jazz musicians. Drum And Bugle Corps (modern)
A modern drum and bugle corps is a musical marching unit consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, Electronic musical instrument, electronic instruments, and Color guard (flag spinning), color guard. Typically operating as independent non-profit organizations, corps perform in competitions, parades, festivals, and other civic functions. Participants of all ages are represented within the corps activity, but the majority are between the ages of 13 and 22 and are members of corps within Drum Corps International. Competitive summer drum corps participate in summer touring circuits, such as Drum Corps International, Drum Corps International (DCI) and Drum Corps Associates, Drum Corps Associates (DCA). Corps prepare a new show each year, approximately 8–12 minutes in length, and refine it throughout the summer tour. Henry Bogdan
Henry Garnet Bogdan Jr. (born February 4, 1961, in Riverside, California) is an American musician best known as the original bass guitarist and a founding member of the alternative metal band Helmet. Bogdan was born Henry Garnet Bogdan Jr. on February 4, 1961, in Riverside, California and later moved to Oregon. He started his music career as a drummer for the band Poison Idea. After he left Poison Idea, Bogdan quit drumming and started playing bass guitar. He formed the band Helmet in 1989 with Page Hamilton, Peter Mengede, and John Stanier. Bogdan played bass for all of Helmet's albums released from 1990 to 1997 which included ''Strap It On'', '' Meantime'', '' Betty'', and ''Aftertaste''. Page Nye Hamilton (born May 18, 1960) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer who founded the American heavy metal band Helmet in 1989. In the 1990s, Helmet and Hamilton were forerunners of alternative metal with the albums '' Meantime'' (1992) and '' Betty'' (1994) and are considered one of the most influential metal bands of all time. Although he is mainly known for his work in heavy metal and post-hardcore music, Hamilton also earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and later earned a Master's degree in jazz guitar from the Manhattan School of Music. Lenny White
Leonard White III (born December 19, 1949) is an American jazz fusion drummer who was a member of the band Return to Forever led by Chick Corea in the 1970s. White has been called "one of the founding fathers of jazz fusion". White has won three Grammys and one Latin Grammy. Carl Palmer
Carl Frederick Kendall Palmer (born 20 March 1950) is an English drummer. He was a founding member of the supergroups Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Asia, a touring drummer for The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and a founding member of Atomic Rooster. He has toured with his own bands since 2001, including Palmer, the Carl Palmer Band, and currently, Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy. Terry John Bozzio (born December 27, 1950) is an American drummer best known for his work with Missing Persons, U.K., and Frank Zappa. He has been featured on nine solo or collaborative albums, 26 albums with Zappa and seven albums with Missing Persons. Bill Bruford
William Scott Bruford (born 17 May 1949) is an English drummer and percussionist who first gained prominence as a founding member of the progressive rock band Yes. After leaving Yes in 1972, Bruford spent the rest of the 1970s recording and touring with King Crimson (1972–1974), Roy Harper (1975), and U.K. (1978), as well as touring with Genesis (1976). In 1978, he formed his own group, Bruford, which was active until 1980. William Emanuel Cobham Jr. (born May 16, 1944) is a Panamanian–American jazz drummer who came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
