John Shepperd (cricketer)
John Shepperd (born 8 May 1937) is a former English cricketer and umpire. Shepperd was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. He was born at Willesden, Middlesex. Shepperd made his first-class debut for Middlesex against the touring Indians in 1959. He made two further first-class appearances for the county, both of which came in the 1960 County Championship against Essex and Hampshire. In his three first-class matches for Middlesex, he took 4 wickets at an average of 41.75, with best figures of 3/35. With the bat, he scored 32 runs at a batting average of 8.00, with a high score of 13. He also made a single first-class appearance for L.C. Stevens' XI against Cambridge University in 1960 at The Saffrons, Eastbourne, scoring 3 runs and going wicketless. He later joined Norfolk in Minor counties cricket, making his debut for the county in the 1963 Minor Counties Championship against Cambridgeshire. Willesden () is an area of north-west London, situated 5 miles (8 km) north-west of Charing Cross. Cambridge University Cricket Club
Cambridge University Cricket Club, established in 1820, is the representative cricket club for students of the University of Cambridge. The club was recognised as holding first-class cricket, first-class status until 2020. The university played List A cricket in 1972 and 1974 only. It has not played top-level Twenty20 cricket. With some 1,200 members, home matches are played at Fenner's. The club has three men's teams (Blues, Crusaders and the Colleges XI) and one women's team (from the incorporation of Cambridge University Women's Cricket Club (CUWCC) in 2000) which altogether play nearly 100 days of cricket each season. The Pakistan men's national cricket team represents Pakistan in international cricket. Minor Counties Cricket Team
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Of the 39 historic counties of England, 17 have a first-class county cricket team (the 18th first-class county is Glamorgan in Wales) and 19 participate in the National Counties championship. The 1968 Gillette Cup was the sixth Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 27 April and 7 September 1968. The tournament was won by Warwickshire County Cricket Club who defeated Sussex County Cricket Club by 4 wickets in the final at Lord's. The newly launched London Weekend Television won the rights to show the final throughout the ITV network, considered a major coup when set alongside the strong association the BBC then had with cricket (and would for another thirty years). The 1965 Gillette Cup was the third Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 23 April and 4 September 1965. The tournament was won by Yorkshire, following Geoffrey Boycott's 146 runs in the final at Lord's.
