John Moore (horseman)
John Moore (born 17 March 1950) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. Moore was born in Sydney, Australia, The son of jockey and trainer George Moore. He began working in Hong Kong racing as an assistant to his father in 1971. In 1985, John Moore took out his trainers license and built a highly successful career for himself in Hong Kong. Moore won the 2014 Dubai Golden Shaheen with Hong Kong–based Sterling City. live telecast of 2014 Dubai World Cup broadcast, 29 March 2014. Moore has won the Hong Kong Trainers Premiership five times and in 2005 broke Brian Kan's record for most career wins by a trainer in Hong Kong racing. Hong Kong Mile
The Hong Kong Mile is a Conditions races, Group 1 Flat racing, flat Horse racing, horse race in Hong Kong which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile) at Sha Tin Racecourse, Sha Tin, taking place each year in mid-December. The race was first run in 1991, and was originally titled the Hong Kong International Bowl. Its distance was initially set at 1,400 metres. The event's present title and distance were both introduced in 1999, and the following year it was promoted to Group 1 status. The Hong Kong Mile is one of the four Hong Kong International Races, and it presently offers a purse of HK$32,000,000 (approximately US$4 million). Collection (; foaled 13 February 2005) is an Irish-bred, Hong Kong–based Thoroughbred racehorse. In the season of 2008–09, Collection won the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby (HK G1-2000m) on 22 March. Collection also was one of the nominees of Hong Kong Horse of the Year in the seasons of 2008–09 and 2009–10. Collection began his racing career in England where he was trained by William Haggas. Haggas trained Collection to win three of his seven races in 2007 and 2008, including the Listed Hampton Court Stakes at Ascot. In 2009, Collection was exported to race in Hong Kong and won the Hong Kong Derby on his third appearance for his new trainer John Moore.
