John Florent
John Florent (born 13 February 1977) is a West Indian cricketer. Florent is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm slow-medium. In February 2006, the United States Virgin Islands were invited to take part in the 2006 Stanford 20/20, whose matches held official Twenty20 status. Florent made two appearances in the tournament, in a preliminary round victory against Sint Maarten and in a first-round defeat against St Vincent and the Grenadines. Against St Maarten he wasn't required to bat, while with the ball he took the wickets of Lionel Ritchie and Marlon Brutus to finish with figures of 2/18 from four overs. Against St Vincent and the Grenadines he was dismissed for a single run by Nixon McLean, while with the ball he bowled two wicketless overs which cost 16 runs. Seam Bowling
Seam bowling is a bowling technique in cricket whereby the ball is deliberately bowled on to its seam, to cause a random deviation when the ball bounces. Practitioners are known as ''seam bowlers'' or seamers. Seam bowling is generally classed as a subtype of fast bowling, although the bowling speeds at which seam can be a factor include medium-pace bowling. Although there are specialist seamers that make deliberate use of off cutter and leg cutter at the expense of bowling slower than regular fast bowlers, most bowlers employ the seam to some effect and so the terms "seamer" and "fast bowler" are largely synonymous. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the county cricket, inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 over (cricket), overs. Together with first-class cricket, first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Stanford 20/20
The Stanford 20/20 was a short-lived cricket tournament in the Caribbean island of Antigua. It was held first in July and August 2006 in the West Indies at the Stanford Cricket Ground, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, and then again in the same place in 2008. It was a variety of the popular Twenty20 format, which had been first introduced in English cricket in 2003. The tournament was separate to the Stanford Super Series, which was held in late 2008. The tournament was privately devised and funded by wealthy American businessman Allen Stanford, who held Antiguan dual nationality. It has been alleged that Stanford's creation of the tournament was a method of laundering his income from the fraudulent business schemes for which he is now serving a lengthy penal sentence in the U.S.A. 19 teams took part in the inaugural knock-out tournament and 20 teams took part in the second tournament (although 21 teams were originally scheduled to take part). Marlon Chenjeria Brutus (born 10 October 1980) is a Sint Maartener cricketer. A right-handed batsman (cricket), batsman and left-arm Seam bowling, fast-medium bowler, Brutus was selected in Sint Maarten national cricket team, Sint Maarten's squad for the Stanford 20/20#2006 tournament, 2006 Stanford 20/20, playing in their preliminary round loss to the United States Virgin Islands cricket team, United States Virgin Islands (USVI). In the USVI innings he bowled two over (cricket), overs which conceded 12 runs, but he did take the wicket of Terrance Webbe with the fourth ball of the tournament. In cricket, an over consists of six legal deliveries bowled from one end of a cricket pitch to the player batting at the other end, almost always by a single bowler. A maiden over is an over in which no runs are scored that count against the bowler (so leg byes and byes may be scored as they are not counted against the bowler). A wicket maiden is a maiden over in which a wicket is also taken. Similarly, double and triple wicket maidens are when two and three wickets are taken in a maiden over. After six deliveries the umpire calls 'over'; the fielding team switches ends, and a different bowler is selected to bowl from the opposite end.
